help please riot

im finding myself unable to use my automute program . because people have caught on and start ignoring pings and im forced to turn my chat back on. i feel a ban is coming. i love the game very much. but i can't simply wave a magic wand and "not be toxic" and i shouldnt have to be cast out by the game i love and enjoy. because a little 12 year old feels like provoking me into swearing at him. can you guys PLEASE at least give me the ability to turn chat off outside of game. and not be able to turn it back on until i'm back in lobby?

First, uninstall that third party program before it gets you banned and instead just rebind your "enter" key to something really hard to reach. It's what my cousin did when he got his chat restrictions. Hasn't escalated a bit since; no warnings, nothing. He is by no means reformed in reality, but his team doesn't need to know that :D

i got the ok from deep terror nami to use it a. and b. there is no setting for league to rebind/unbind chat. how do i do it?

Don't say it like I have the authority to make it ok or not. Based on information put out by Riot in the past it isn't an issue, but modifying files or using 3rd party programs that interact with the client or game is use-at-your-own-risk.

Nami, do you have any idea why/when they removed the option to technically 'disable' chat by binding something else (let's say your Q) to enter and then re-binding the key back to the ability leaving the enter key open and the chat no longer 'accessibly' except through z?

as of right now. autohotkey is the only way i've been able to do it

If you bind something else to the Enter key, lets say your Q ability, then say "ok" to close the menu, then esc again to open it back up and rebind your Q to Q, the enter key should no longer do anything. I haven't tested it in a few patches (my cousin needed it) but it should still work that way. To get back your enter key you'd just reset to default. (a pain in the butt while in-game~)

ive tried that. it still pops up chat. currently the ONLY way to unbind chat in league is through third party software

Welp, my cousin is screwed when he gets back then :/ He's been gone for 2 months. That was likely the only thing between him and the road to losing his acc.

Sorry then Scazzman QQ I guess the only other thing you could try is to drag chat off the screen when you get in game. It's annoying to do but it'd kinda do the same thing if it's their chat that is provoking you.

Self Control is never like waving a magic wand for anyone. It always takes work and discipline. And if you don't have that then you better learn quick because once your in the real world a lack of self control will get you into trouble fast.

My issue with what you said is that it sounds like you are blaming others for your behaviour rather then addressing the actual issue. The issue is not other players, it is not which key your chat is bound too, it is your behaviour in chat. Finding a way to make it harder to type in chat and blaming other players only puts a crutch on your ability to reform and become a better person who is able to control how they act and what they say.
