Guide: Toxicity Triggers and How to avoid Cancerous Games.

Dear League Community,

As a "mostly reformed" toxic player (I still have my moments). I feel I have a unique insight into both sides of the constantly repeating cycle of..

(Someone Trolls or plays Bad> Someone Begins flaming that player > someone flames the flamer and in turn reports them..)

Guys.. the trolling and bad plays are never going to go away. You know it I know it.

Which in return means that the events in which a player gets emotionally irritated and loses their temper in a game is never going to go away either. It can happen to anyone. It is human nature. No matter how calm you think you are, if you are in a hostile environment for long enough it will eventually chip away at the emotional walls you have defending yourself from and outburst or rage incident. That being said, different people have different motivations on this game, and have different walls, and different expectations/satisfactions from playing this game. You have to respect that not all players play the game for the same reasons as you, and should understand that some people are not having fun unless they are winning.. noone is being toxic.. , or certain criteria is being met. Again Human Nature is at play here.

Personally: Trolls disgust me, and I not only think they are the stem of alot hostility on this game, I know it.

I agree with everyone, that there are times when players are just having a bad game, and are ruthlessly scrutinized for it. I totally am against that as well. But the problem again goes back to the small percentage of players who are trolls, and who do want to elicit some form of hostility and negative reactions. If they weren't around in the first place, I believe alot of players prone to hostility would be less likely to rage. As there would be no ambiguity or confusion about whether or not the person is intentionally throwing a game, or just playing bad.

So I hope that sheds light on the fact that I can both show Compassion and Understanding for people who flame.. As well as be Totally Against them doing it in game. So how do you deal with this whole conundrum?

As a Toxic Prone Player. Here is a list of what gets me back on track and level headed, as well as what sets me off even more.

First Acknowledge my problem, and show some support for the issue.. you gotta have my back. But at the same time slap me on the hand for being a jerk. ** Just saying.. ."I understand why you are getting mad, but" ** goes a long long way in calming someone like me down. More often or not I actually end up apologizing for being a jerk, because (human nature) when someone expresses concern for you.. you instantly remember that the peopel you are gaming with are human beings, not RNG teammate Bots.

-If the problem persists after that .. .please just "Mute Me"

  1. I want you to, because I will know at the end of the game or even as short as a few moments later that I was wrong, and being a jerk.. It also protects me from harming my own reputation or account.. When honestly you are just catching me in my shitty moment. Most games I'm very pleasant and helpful, and a decent teammate, but when I'm mean.. I am really really mean. That is just me.
  2. It protects you from something I might say, and unfortunately players like me really have no filter when I do finally explode. I do type sometimes just to say something mean, and I do have the intent in that moment to make someone feel bad. Again it's not a personal thing, most of the time it's just been building up for a long time, and you just happened to be the final crack that broke the dam.

Do not do this to a player who has rage mode activated UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE

  1. Do not ever say "STFU" to someone who is going on a rage-trip. You are most likely going to send that person off the deep-end. And honestly you put yourself at risk too because now they have a mechanism to put you on tilt and flip or manipulate you into saying things that are ban-worthy. I have been warned for saying stfu, and for basically yelling at someone who was yelling, so you really need to keep a level head with all forms of toxic on this game, and always try to be sincere and nice.
  2. Do not say "Muted" . I'm all for you muting as mentioned above. But when you tell me about it .. I Now hate you as much as the person that set me off to begin with. And if you are the person I'm mad at to begin with.. you have essentially just lit a fire under my ass to get you back at all costs.

That's it for now. I will update this as frequently as possible.. Whenever I or someone else is triggered and calmed down in a fast and efficient way.

**To those of us that Rage **

  1. I feel you.. I know our struggle.. But try to remember to calm yourself down. Apologizing to someone for losing your shit on them, actually goes a long way in getting you focused back on the game. NOT THAT IT GIVES YOU A FREE PASS TO BE A DICK, but you gotta look out for yourself on this game, because sadly not alot of strangers on this game will.

  2. If you see a fellow rage person.. You better have some compassion for them.. especially if you are the victim. Because you should know how easy it is to fck up and yell at someone.

  3. We the people who rage need to take responsibility for resolving this issue. It is our Burden more than those who aren't like us. Victims of our bullshit do have the right to own our faces off with that report function. You don't know why people are playing bad, you don't know why they are trolling.. they might be dealing with some kind of drama outside of the game that has them distracted. Video games are where people go when reality is too messed up to deal with, and we have to protect that.

Whenever someone trolls me in one of my games, I just remember that I voted for Trump and that's infinitely more triggering to rito and these little kids than the shit they're putting me through.
