Been gaming online for over 20 years, and I have never seen a community that's more disgusting than this one.

I've been thinking about uninstalling for several days, I am just not getting any joy out of playing.

Rude people Limited Choices in play-style because of METAs and imbalance Trolls . I dont think I've seen a game with more trolls, and they completely ruin every game when you get them The only players being punished on here are those trying to have fun and win.

It's not the game that he's referring to. It's the people in the world we live in who lack any kind of integrity or respect. It didn't used to be like that and there were ways to deal with them. Now, those people are ATM's for the developers so they won't provide avenues for dealing with the trash.

some people find joy in walking by taking red and dieing to enemy only to tell you that you suck because enemy has red then they die 40 times because you suck yup that's league in a nutshell. I ask for help and get called a noob. this is why I like mmos over mobas but I still come back to league

It's all the casual and entitled people. It's a result of computers being so mainstream and the ability of developers to program games so you don't need high requirements. There are a lot of these type players and that's the goal, to get as many of these type of players to play because they spend money. That is pretty much all they are good for. Then the gaming companies coddle them to keep the green flowing.

It's only my opinion but it makes sense seeing as I come from the same time as you. Back then the players had the ability to blacklist these type of gamers because they don't contribute shit to the actual gameplay and ruin games for others.

Furthermore, it's how accessible the internet is now to the younger generations. I and plenty of others had childhoods before the advent of the internet. The more I see of the current crop of adolescents, the more I question the disconnect they have with each other and treating people with kindness and respect. Technology is a wonderful thing, but it comes at a price.

10/10 games had a troll or asshole afk or completely new and underskilled player in them. Who the fck wants to play a game like that? if the game was based off of individual performance I wouldnt give a shit at all but instead its RNG who gets the more toxic troll(s) and how bad do they make you lose or win.

unfortunately it is a side effect of matchmaking.

people know they will get easier games if they lose so they make losing their goal. it happens in every game with matchmaking. it is very common in overwatch and i have even seen it in chess. people make one move and resign to get to easier games.

trolling is just something to pass the time while you lose the games you want to lose.

there is not really much riot can do about it. you cant force people who want to lose play to win. if they want to lose they are going to find ways to do it.

This one is not a problem with the community. You can play what you want, to an extent. We have so many different Champions, and many of them have different build styles. Maybe the differences are small, like Blue Ezreal and traditional Ezreal, or maybe the differences are huge, like going AD Kennen instead of AP Kennen. Maybe you're going full tank Hecarim because you realized your team has all damage, or maybe you're going full damage Hecarim because everyone actually picked all tanks. Maybe you have a balanced team composition and you can do the traditional bruiser build. We have a decent amount of build diversity, especially since every Champion has roughly different builds, but you're right in that you can't go too crazy. Kayle might be able to do "anything," but going item 3102 item 3814 item 1410 item 3190 item 3089 item 3124 is ridiculous. Our meta isn't that flexible. However, it's still flexible enough to accommodate every Champion, and many different build paths on those different Champions. Some build paths are just reorderings of purchases of items, but others can lead to somewhat different or very different builds lategame, as I showed above. If you're talking about playstyle as in "it's difficult to not do 1:1:2 and 1 in the jungle," then that's really just tough. If you can find some other strategy that really works just as well or better, then great, see if you can be the meta changer. It'll be a hard sell, but if you can do it you'll be famous.

As for this fact, I'm glad we have the Instant Feedback System. We do have a lot of trolls, but we have a good method of getting rid of them.

Sorry to be impolite, but that's just a lie. A vast majority, I think over 99% of cases of punishment are due to legitimate toxicity, cheating, or leaving. Those cases that were improperly handled, which number extremely few, are normally overturned. As for the players who were just trying to have fun and win, then they shouldn't have been toxic while having fun, or they shouldn't have been cheating to win. While they might be fun for the player, his or her teammates/opponents will not be having fun. The enjoyment of everyone in the game is important for Riot.

The amount of reports I do daily. If not weekly for flaming toxic players, that harass the team and make everyone have a bad time and int or troll is absurd. I haven't gotten a single thanks for the assist in 3+ months. I have probably had well over 200 players that should be banned from the game due to their chat, or how they feed. Riot, does nothing.

League isnt really a game like Cod where youre matched up against players of all skill, if you're on a smurf noobs tend to develope and habit of confidence and cockyness, its actually aids, they talk shit and call people trash whilst being the lowest ranking possible, they get a triple kill last game with their skillful "garen 1v3 outplay" and they think they are fuckin dopa or faker and they go around flinging their confidence around like a fucking wrecking ball, and then when they die and feed they blame their team because "theres no way they couldve done bad, gosh im stuck in this elo with a bunch of feeders"

the "quality" of the people you interact with depends on a number of factors, like time of the day, day of the week, queue type, game type, elo.. etc etc

all my games are great, no one really talks or anything, everyone is busy playing, but I only play high elo aram games, high elo rotating games and coop vs ai games, thus all the bad players/trolls/ragey ppl get filtered out really.

Its because that this game pits a persons personal performance score based on a situation where he often doesn't have any control. You can't control if bot lane feeds if you are top etc.

When a person feels powerless they either get angry or get sad. Hence the game itself constantly winds people up, and tribunals will never change human nature. This is something Riot refuses to understand.

I came on the boards to say pretty much the same thing. I'm not the greatest player. I know that. I'm not an asian teenage boy and I never will be, so my reflexes aren't razor sharp. I started playing just last July so I'm still learning, but I've already been bullied into doing nothing but arams to try to mitigate the abuse I take. If I actually sign up for a real match, the hatred and vitriol is soul-crushing.

But lately, they've all been asshats in arams too. There's always someone who tells me I suck WITH A RANDOM TOON I NEVER PLAY, (and "sucking" means getting an A- instead of an S or something) and in the past couple of days they've even gotten threatening, like telling me they're going to hunt me down. I report them but I never see that anything's been done to them.

Apparently crap like this is fine with Riot, raking in their billions and who cares if some shit girl player is getting abused? I try not to let it bug me, but it does. The irony is that they'd never say anything like that to my face because I'm a 3rd dan black belt in karate and I'd hand their ass to them, but alas, in the game I have no such defense.

Anyway, just wanted to vent/sympathize. I'm thinking of uninstalling it too, but the good, fun games where everyone is great, win or lose, keep me coming back. For now.

In a game like League with over 100 million players, it's near impossible to avoid people with somewhat terrible attitudes. Then the hate spawns more hate, players that hit trolls/toxicity and lose begin to go on tilt and then troll (and the cycle continues). This situation is obviously not ideal... but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I personally find (believe me if you want), to start the game with a "Hey, how are you all doing", apologize when they question/flame and say it's your bad (a lot) usually softens the blow and the rudeness is kept to a minimum. The process got me the somewhat elusive green Teamwork honor ribbon hahaha! Not a lot of them flame after an apology.

The Choices in playstyle seems to be quite open for most of the game modes (ARAMs, Norms, Bots :p) But in ranked, people are fussier so you can't try things like Urgot Support cough. But... you could play a champ in their role even if it's not a meta pick idk like Urgot adc or Mordekaiser top/adc without much complaints. Unless you feed and then refer to the above "apologize" and move on.

Ultima Online was released in 1997 and that is probably what he was playing. Online gaming has been around since the 70's. It began its downfall by becoming mainstream in the 90's with the advent of the internet. I say downfall because of the shitty player base that has spawned over the years from easy access.

I didn't play Ultima, but I certainly played some other MMOs back 15-20 years ago. Some of them you were lucky if you could leave your spawn location without getting killed by other [high level] players who would loot your corpse for all your money and items.

Of course, OP used hyperbole several times, so it's possible OP's "20 years" is like a normal person's 5 years.

What I liked is if you were an idiot like too many players today you were blacklisted from doing anything with anyone because they didn't want to deal with an idiot. We don't have that capability anymore because the devs want too much green shit leaving us with next to no tools to deal with the idiots that pay it. Then they wonder why there is so much toxicity in the game.

I'm bronze at the moment. I realized that a good portion of my Teamates will be assholes. I also realize that I'm gonna have a lot of people who I can't 'fix'. I mean people that directly sabotage my game like a Kalista that stole bot from me and a what seem to be her Galio friend who both flamed off the the whole team. They actively tried to screw with the game by the Kalista hijacking in champ select and the Galio not taking the ****ing towers because he 'didn't feel like it'. You can say anything to me. Absolutely ANYTHING! I will just mute you and move on, but when people are bitchy in a way I can't mute like inting or hijacking (not counting afks because people have lives that I don't know anything about and circumstances that may be more important than my promos).

I was gonna go Anivia bot one game in normals when this asshat kept complaining about how she isn't a 'bot mage' or some crap like that. Went to my OP.GG and told me not to play her. Funny flipping thing is, my highest KDA is with anivia. It is absolutely difficult for me to feed hard on her unless something is bugging me inside or outside like the kalista that kept stealing my farm.

I get exactly what you are saying. The players are absolutely disgusting and the meta is too damn concrete. Worst part is that around 70% of the people bitching about meta and 'strong picks' probably don't know much about the game and have probably never actually made their own important decision in a game in their whole league carriers by themselves. YouTube doesn't help either. The only thing you ever find there is 'OP oneshot build' or 'Akali rework disgusting damage'.

I personally don't think that league has gotten too casual because if you take Clash of Clans as an example people their generally aren't that toxic. Mostly because the people they are playing with are their friends and whatnot. But probably because of leagues anonymity people generally put on their worst personas, think they are above everyone else and that everyone else is at fault.

If you leave the game I could not without shame tell you to stay because I think everyone knows it at this point. The game's fucked up. I do like the game so I might not quit it unless I get access to better hardware (if I do get a pc with a dedicated graphics card I'd probably move to dota or TF) the worst case scenario would be just not giving a damn, mute as soon as I get into a game play my lane and treat everyone on the rift like bots.
