Just Returned to League.. Found out Lyte is Gone
Edit: Qualifications for assessment: Post-Undergrad Neuroscience Researcher
I quit leagues after playing intensely for a few years. Started bronze 3 and ended up plat 4. After being gone this whole season I found out this shocking news: Lyte is no longer working for Riot.... Thank God. Wow.
I certainly hope that Riot can finally move away from the EXTREMELY shady oppressive manipulative social justice that Lyte spearheaded. In case you don't know, Lyte was in charge of things like capturing the accounts of players who were banned/suspended and then holding their accounts ransom until after they had completed a psychological survey which was actually revealed to be a modified version of the Anti-social personality disorder test.
The explanation of this survey and data collected was never released but it is very scary that a profit company is collecting psychological information on users. Especially since some of the players this was issued to were children and it was done without the consent of any parental figures.
Riot, I believe that you do have good intentions. But you must understand that attempting the mass manipulation of people's minds and behaviors is WRONG for any reason. ESPECIALLY when you are doing in without disclosing it to those involved. Stating "We want to make players behavior better" does not give you the right to employ sly under the table psychological tactics as Lyte prided himself on.
If you want to make this place better for people you first need to stop trying to control them. The toxicity in this game comes from the problems with the gameplay itself not from people. When you look at your community and say "Damn we are so toxic, lets fix these people" really you should go "Why are people more toxic in our game than in other games".
Next, give people the tools to manage their own comfort level such as personalized language filters and improved ignoring systems.
That's all you need to do for us with player behavior. Just focus on the gameplay now, that's what we are all here for.
Looking forward to the future
