Toxicity in Chat

I am toxic, I won't even lie. However, I have changed quite recently with my behavior and haven't been reported in quite a bit from what I know of. So I like to think I'm doing better as a part of this community, and will continue to make my best effort with not being toxic.

Now that being said I want to get to the real beef of my situation. I'm quite tired of people being able to bait you into being the most toxic person even and get away with it. I'm absolutely tired of it because I'm positive my reports and stuff from the last month have been from stuff that was exactly like this, and I'm not saying I don't deserve the reports, because trust me I know better than anybody that I do. However, I'm absolutely tired of people being able to bait you into a report trap and that itself isn't considered toxic.

I really would love to know where we draw the line on giving a chat restriction? Is it just being flat out toxic and cussing at people, or does it come from multiple reports of minor stuff over time? Do we not chat restrict people who harass others in-game, but not to the point where it's not toxic enough to get chat-restricted currently?

Because to be honest I'm absolutely done with people calling me, team mates, enemies etc. "bad" or "garbage" or "bronze" and then going on a rant on how I should be a different rank or that I should play a different game. Because according to Riot (from what I've seen) this doesn't deserve a chat restriction, and the worst part is the person is practically asking to get called out or raged at and purposely provoking others so it happens, but they can just report you and get away with being toxic, because it isn't toxic enough. I honestly think this deserves some sort of chat restriction.

Call my opinion unpopular or down vote if you want. I honestly just needed to get this off my chest, because I'm absolutely tired of not the toxic people, but the people who cause others to become toxic when it comes to in-game chat messages and not getting a restriction themselves.

I'd say if this community is driving you to the point where you can't hold your frustration and anger back anymore cuz that's just how bad we are, find a different game. Life is too short for you to waste your precious time here.

Here's the thing. I've learned to hold back my anger now. I literally play support, that's how civilized I've become :^)

On a serious note. It's not just me it's a large part of the community that becomes toxic because of people like this. Not by just getting mad at team mates sucking, but mad at team mates who call other team mates "bad" or "terrible" it simply isn't fun for anyone to hear the words "lol you should be bronze." And then when they get told mean hurtful real things they just say "report." and get away with what they did. I'm not saying that the person who said mean hateful things shouldn't be reported or chat restricted. I'm saying I think they both deserve a good ol' chat restriction.

shoo shoo throw that role away you're gonna get blamed and flamed for everything, even top laner's death is your fault for not killing your bot lane opponents, tilting opponent top laner to be distracted from trading trashtalks with their bot laners at it.

It's not just me it's a large part of the community that becomes toxic because of people like this.

That's the kind of ppl we are dealing with and as things stand they're not going to be removed anytime soon. You either play with them, or you play something else. I don't think you have any other option =/

Exactly, which is why I'm complaining. If I had a thing pop up every 1/10 times I reported someone for something like this, I wouldn't be complaining. However, out of my 1000~ games I've played it hasn't happened once. Not once has Riot thought that this was a toxic behavior to give a chat restriction to.

Just mute them. Problem solved. If you can't do this, well you deserve the reports because you're letting them bait you.

I know how mute button works thanks. Doesn't solve the problem of people being toxic and not getting reported. Thanks for a pretty lousy input though :/

If I had a dollar for every time somebody said "just mute them." I'd have a small loan of a million dollars. The mute button doesn't stop toxicity, it just prevents you from having to deal with it. If you think the mute button is such a good option for toxicity we wouldn't have a report system.

It's an "over time" thing, unless you cross the line with extremely toxic behavior.

Let's say you tell a player "fuck you" in one game. That isn't going to get you punished.

You say "fuck you" in half your games. Still probably not.

You always tell players "fuck you". If you keep getting reported, you'll eventually be punished.

Reports flag a match to get reviewed when your case gets big enough. 1 report or 9, doesn't matter, all they do is flag the match. If a player keeps being negative then the reports against them will stack up and eventually trigger a review and punishment. Singular offenses very rarely warrant a punishment, and they aren't punished either; it's when they keep stacking up consistently that it's necessary and done.

Muting toxic players is precisely what you want to do, though. Muting is to benefit you immediately. Reporting is to benefit others in the future. If you want to reap the benefits of the system immediately you have to take advantage of Muting.

Well, I got banned in one game of 1 reports. So I need an explanation for that. Unless Riot has the other logs, but they only sent me the logs of the 1 game that I played.

I would love to see you try and ignore a bunch of people who insult you verbally and vocally while you plug in those headphones of yours every single time without reacting one bit.

Report them for unsportsmanlike conduct, which you can, and ignore them. If you don't talk to them, they won't continue to target you.

You can report all you want. It won't get them a ban unless it happens continuously. However, say one thing that's considered extremely bad once to one of these people and get instantly banned.

Reporting people like this is nothing but a "feel good" button.

Riot says let them spit on you because "mute" button.

It's pretty much the same thing as playing any sports game with a team of 5 players and plugging in head phones while one or more people insult you overtly to the point where you could probably file a restraining order against that person.

I say screw the mute button sometimes, I'm not co-operating with this person AT all. Make me.
