We need to stop toxicity as a community
I started a couple weeks ago actively posting here on Player Behavior because I wanted to see a change in the people I was playing with.
I personally believed that if we all made changes at an individual level while also continuing to promote and encourage personal change and reform we could begin the avalanche towards reforming the entirety of the league community... and I still beleive that, even if it is impossible.
I Know full well that this is an idealism, and I know full well from my own life that idealisms are rarely, if ever, achieved. However, if we actively make the effort to skew towards the idealism: we could potentially converge towards a much better version of what we currently have.
Toxicity transcends age-groups/cultures/peoples and is a direct result of this community and the things we encourage. Bullying isn't ok, encouraging hurtful things and negative experiences is not ok.
But, I still believe that change starts with the player base. If the people don't change, then nothing will change. (Even now, I doubt and i'm asking myself how we can lead these generations into the right way of doing things.) Negative experiences begin with the personal experience, we have to begin at the core and work our way outwards to affect the outer rims of the the whole.
I know this may seem pointless, confusing, and rambling but I just got an urge to post this.
The point is this: I want to encourage any of you reading this to make an effort on being that positive person. I know that It's difficult and sometimes unrewarding. I know that you may not be able to change the behavior of other people. However, everything always begins with one individual.
If you are that one person who decides to reform, that is one less toxic person in our community. Hell, you may be able to show other players how to conduct themselves in game. If you decide to be a positive enforcer, then that is one more person trying to change things for the better.
And with that, we can begin to skew towards an idealism: even if it's ever so slightly.
Anyway, life is about climbing mountains: all you have to do is take a couple steps each day. You may fall off every now and then and you may even think about giving up. But as long as you decide to stubbornly keep pressing forward... you'll eventually reach that coveted summit.
So please, climb the mountain with me.
That is all.
