Have an option to turn off chat without having to /mute all
Or just a turn off chat from people that aren't your friends. This would help the people who don't have the self control to do it and think that they wont be toxic the next game they play.

Does "/mute all" really take that much effort to accomplish?
/mute all stops retards from spam pinging? no, does it stop me from calling them retards then literly getting 25 game mute for calling someone retarded? no.
The pings unfortunately are the only means of communication left if you remove chat. (Sometimes even the louts will warn you a three man gank is coming despite the mute.) You do have the option of reducing the sound of pings though.
