Holy hell... I thought Gold was toxic...

Then I started leveling up a new account over the past few days for fun. HA! Fun...

Holy god.

I have never witnessed so much flaming and trolling in my life. How does anyone ever make it past level 20? Jesus tap dancing christ, these noobie games are absolute cancer.

And its not even just my own team. Its everyone. All across all chat, all across team chat, everything. Everyone wants everyone reported for this that or the other, everyone's feeding or inting, everyone's trolling (or so you get told repeatedly in chat)

I feel like I've just started my volunteer work at the local "school for the troubled."

I swear 8 games out of 10 i've typed in "/mute all" by the 10 minute mark. It is absolutely bonkers. I find myself honoring the least despicable person on my team just so I can get the "everyone honored someone" boost, but NOBODY deserves it... god no... not by a long shot.

And I feel bad because I think to myself... "This is what bronze kids have to deal with EVERY DAY."

At least in gold, if someone flames, they just throw out a few racial slurs and get back to playing. Or they'll just say "fuck you" and disconnect. Or they'll just start AFK pushing a side lane and say "I'm done" and refuse to cooperate for the rest of the game.

But in these noob games, its like... just a wall of text. All game, every game. Just a litany of toxic filth.

My guess is because I'm playing with all the people who got their main accounts banned, or currently suspended. Glad to see they're "reformed."

I swear I report at least one, but more often 2-3 players per game. It is mind blowing.

I'd be willing to bet that the 1-30 climb deters at least like... 20% of new players from ever getting into the game at all. I'd put money on it.

Shit, I've been playing this game for years, and it almost makes me want to quit - but I have the luxury of going and playing on my main account when I get tired of all the bullshit.

So, stop banning toxic players and you've solved 70 percent of the problems smurfs cause. Higher elo players just buy level 30 accounts anyways because nobody wants to do the completely ridiculous level 1-30 grind, or play with shitty players.

Or just restrict by IP. Yeah it can be circumvented, but you'll still filter out a lot of people too lazy/dumb to change their IP, AND people will stop bragging about smurfing.

I don't favor the method but it is possible

I don't knw if it maks snse with my brokn kyboard from playing sup to oftn but u could try sth lik passport id or insuranc card like in Korea, of course it is possible to use somon lss passport but it could lead to a law enforced sentence for saying your somone else on a official documnt

Actually, Riot's official stance is that they don't want banned players to return. They simply don't have the resources to enforce ID bans on everybody the way they did with Tyler.

Riot gives chances to reform post-perma because they don't have the resources to do otherwise. It's not feasible to ID ban large groups of players from a resource perspective.

Giving folks second chances is what the chat restrictions and two-week bans, as well as punishment decay, are for. Riot's actual opinion of toxic players, as demonstrated in the Tantram quotes I mentioned above, is that once a player has earned a permanent ban, Riot is not interested in keeping them in the community.

  1. smurfing ruining people trying to learn the game's time
  2. toxic trash ruining the game for everyone

Guess you didn't know about smurf matchmaking.

You're not playing against actual new players, most of the time. You're playing against smurfs, which would imply a large number of perma'd players. Actual new players and smurfs basically have their own queues, something the game determines within your first two or three games. So no, this isn't what total noobs have to go through.....although that isn't amazing either.

its true that after a few games smurfs are separated and will likely never play with new players again. but i feel sorry for new players for those first 3 or 4 games. if it had been this bad when i started playing i dont know if i would have continued.

why do you feel bad? almost every moba has a shit community and almost every competitive game has toxic behavior. it has literally been that way since the dawn of online gaming. anyone who has ever played a game before knows exactly how toxic it can get.

nah man. ive played competitive sports, and a lot of CoD and warcraft pvp. nothing else is close to the toxicity of league of legends.

the snowball effect and the inability to leave games combine to make this the most toxic game ever created.

Not the first few games they didn't. The matchmaking includes new people at the start and then after a couple games does the system register and match-make you with people around your skill level. Imagine being a lvl 2 and joining a game with a bunch of people who know what they are doing and then being told "you suck" by someone on your team who knows wat they are doing because they assume ur a smurf as well. Im pretty sure this is a larger issue for euw then NA seeing as how ur server is larger than ours.

Low elo besides gold especially bronze, they are really cocky, they have this pride of them where if they make a mistake they will just blame the others so they don't look bad. I think their thought and pride are caused by those games where they have feeders, afk, int players in their team. By those games i don't mean just 1-2, I mean like 30+ games where they suffer and they started to think they deserve higher elo aka Gold-Diamond and it's their team that is holding them back(slightly true, however only true if they deserve silver 5-4) They just get tilt easily and they go after kills instead of objectives. WHY? One of my friend is in bronze and he usually goes after kills because it makes his KDA look good and it looks like he carried and looks like he deserve a higher elo. This will continue until you reach gold elo where everyone stopped to flame, feed, int, afk. In gold elo no one ints on purpose if they are feeding it simply means that they are trying their best and the enemy is simply just better and destroying that player. Then you reach plat elo..... OH GOD. To be honest I think Plat is a more toxic elo than bronze. Everyone there has this ego where they believe they are good and low elo players means nothing to them. People in Plat are also rusty and yes they flame however they don't flame like bronze they flame in a different level. For example Bronze players be like "THAT CHAMPION IS SO BROKEN, WHY DOESN'T RIOT NERF IT" AND "OMG NOOB CANT 1V1 ME TRASH TEAM". While Plat Players be like "what are you doing? You should had rotated top and jg should had ganked, then we take 1st turret and rift. How hard is that? Are you that boosted?" and "Why didn't you follow my lead? me and the adc are fed we could had won that fight and yet you all came in 1 by 1 and throw baron, GG" Basically They both flame but Plat players flame in a whole new level. To sum it up

Bronze elo - really toxic

Silver elo - toxic but not that much

gold - not really toxic

plat - Really toxic

diamond - things get better

We have to get things straight here.

  • Bronze Elo (all tiers) - very toxic.

  • Silver Elo

Tier 1: very toxic Tier 2: toxic Tier 3: a bit less toxic Tier 4: a bit less toxic Tier 5: toxic

  • Gold Elo

Tier 1: toxic Tier 2: neutral Tier 3: both Tier 4: getting more toxic Tier 5: mostly toxic

  • Plat Elo: every tier is toxic for some reason.

  • Diamond Elo: First few tiers are toxic cuz of Plat's getting higher but its ok.

  • Master: Some people are black sheeps

  • Challenger Elo: Shaclone exists and some others, but they are friendly.

That's all I gathered of my LoL experience so far. Maybe I'm wrong but the higher elo's have less toxic players simply because there are less players than lets say low silver / silver.

... I'd like to disagree with you. My past few games have been a streak of losses due to ignorant assassins with the "I can solo" mentality and the top laners who say "I will split push" THE ENTIRE GAME. Personally i think golds slightly worse than silver simply due to the fact that everyone there is relatively capable of not feeding so a single death from one individual turns into a "your a shit laner who doesn't know how to trade damage" or the "junglers so useless, he doesn't gank" argument

Was G2 for a few weeks, now G4 and I got to G3 again last week to drop back to G4 in a few games, yea no I dont think so. Some people just love to self victimize themselves in gold because even though we are technically now no longer "low elo", everyone still wants to climb and damn pride makes half of them still think they should be a rank higher than they really are. Honest to god the amounts of time a jg would say " X lane sucks" Because they happen to have no kills is disappointing and the mentality of some people dont change regardless of elo. This is less about your rank more about the individual players personality, it just happens that lower elo has the worse personalities in there pool.

In my experience toxic players are paired with toxic players, and those with a recent offense (leaving a game) get matched there for a game, then back to where they were. Maybe it's because I main support/fill, or it's because I hardly ever go into a game without my friends.

So if your behavior is well, then your team and the enemy will probably be the same as yours. Maybe I'm wrong but I meet a toxic player like once every 20 or so games :P

Nah that's not entirely true. You will get more toxic players in low priority queue, you can be as nice as you want, but you'll get toxic players. Every 20 games or every 3rd game, its more like random.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING. My god every game is just someone trying to find a reason to report someone else. It mainly comes from premades they either try to bully someone they don't like on their team or they try to get toxic in all chat and inappropriately taunt the other team over the line. The sad thing is those premeds never get punished either it feels like I've reported everytime and nothing happens. I'm almost sure the whole 1 report same as 9 is a complete lie. Everytime I see a 9x report its an instant feedback. And trust me, I've seen a lot of reporting in this ELO. Like probably 300+games of it.

I think they need to change the report system because these people rather report than play or try to find way to report by typing in chat and bullying someone into getting them to react poorly. The report system is just a way for them to get vindication for bad play or whatever.

Pretty much this. I've run into way to many 4-man premades trying to troll one way or another. As long as they keep it clean in all chat, nothing will happen to them with 1 report. I don't even know if a 6x is enough. It definitely seems that 9x is the only way toxic players get shut down with the current system.

you do realize that low level accounts are all literally smurfs and ppl who have gotten banned so many times they dont care. they make a new account everyday. and im not even joking. plus its so easy to level to 30 now that i dont even believe new kids are even learning the game. i dont believe the reformed ppl are learning the game. i also dont believe the smurfs are learning the game. this is why bronze to gold is hell every season because of the influx of people... who.. dont... know... how... to... play... the... game

I'm level 50... and I usually play normals because it's less stressful than ranked and I can practice some champions that I usually dont play.. but normals is a whole mess rn. In the last 20 or so games, I've probably had a troll on my team at least 70-80% of the games. People are are either feeding into the double digits, have zero gamesense, or are just trolling in the support role. calling them out and they actually start flaming and being toxic deargod

I like this idea. With a prisoner island they wouldnt want to make alts because they still have their mains unbanned which has money already spent on them and if they play with toxic enough people and dont reform, they can leave the community making everyone lives better.

As a bronzie, oh man you've not seen true hell until you see mid-high bronze, and low silver "gatekeepers" (People who are toxic and bad but managed to hit silv5 and would need to drop to b5 MMR to be demoted because weird league ELO systems)
