MaxDarkwill6 votes

Dr Poro10 votes

What's wrong with F@-G? First they take Graves' cigar and now you can't even mention cigarettes?

And why the hell should a country name not be allowed?

they don't get punished, they are just requested by riot to change it. if they don't comply, they force a random name change on you.

I'm hyper sensitive when the deaths of millions are trivialized.

Fondling Gems61 votes

I recommend being like me, I am Jewish, my family lost plenty in the Holocaust, I have every right to be hypersensitive about that kind of stuff. Instead I make jokes about it. Why? Because imo the best way to tear down everything Hitler/the Nazi party accomplished is to turn it into a joke.

That being said I respect the dead, but I uphold their memory without sorrow, because sorrow spawns nothing but sorrow and I try to be a happy guy who makes others happy. If people want to make dumb tags that could be taken as offensive that is fine by me because I know there are plenty of people who will make jokes about it and half of them are jokes and this world could always use a few more jokes.

rtbf2256182419 votes

Some jokes are bad and not worth making because they're offensive.

I'm fine with you not caring, just don't come yelling on the Boards that you weren't warned when you get a strike on your account.

Not sure if they do that for Club tags but you'd definetly lose the name or the Club entirely as far as i know.

Troll for Trump4 votes

There aren't ever any "bad" jokes, jokes just don't fit to people's tastes.

Good example being the stuff in memes&games. Some like it, some find it cringy and weebish.

Only when the "joke" is used not to try to make people laugh is it bad

rtbf2256182418 votes

Crappy jokes are fine bad jokes are not because the majority of the human race that is educated and civilized finds it generally offensive. Your lack of intuition or "freedom of speech" doesn't make the joke any more approvable. We don't want to hear your jokes about 3000 people dying or about an event where people died by millions by being tortured, starved and brutally murdered. Tell that to people you actually know will approve of the joke. Not here.

Vellich0r3 votes

Some people also make jokes to help them get past something that they themselves have had to deal with. The nazi one obviously isn't a good example of that, but horrific things are often best served as jokes. And the only people with the right to be offended by those things are the ones who experienced them, otherwise you are just appropriating their culture to be offended by something that doesn't concern you so that you can feel like a victim.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Your lack of intuition or "freedom of speech" doesn't make the joke any more approvable.

Didn't say that.

No, the majority doesn't find it offensive. It's not a matter of if you're educated and civilized. That has nothing to do with it at all. A ton of the more "prestigious" people in the world have done several things that are offensive. Most often than not, it's just society circlejerk that won't accept it.

You can say things that are horrible, but because it isn't really in the spotlight, they won't care about it.

A good recent example is Donald Trump. Rich, educated, and civilized. If he didn't have those traits, he wouldn't be much more successful than you, would he? Yet what he says goes even further than what those you would considered "uneducated" would say.

The jokes aren't based around actual pain. It's not sadism(DrMundo ). While it is making light of the subject, it isn't just "HAHAHAHAHA, the blue-footed booby is being shot down and gutted"

rtbf2256182411 votes

If you think Donald Trump speaks to the educated then you don't know who is voting for him or who Trump is.

I think you didn't see when i said:

And you'd just assume that noone has expierenced or can understand what people have gone through? It's disturbing to hear about anyways for anyone who knows what you're talking about.

As long as they don't want to hear disturbing crap. Especially if they understand suffering too well.

You're amongst strangers, so behave like it. You don't go up to someone at work and tell them how a little gas never killed anyone. So funny wow, more like immature.

Troll for Trump1 votes

IDK, but Trump speaks to people that are certainly more educuated than you are.

It's not disturbing crap. That's you being oversensitive.

Yes, I'm among strangers. Yes, I would tell those jokes. There may be limits to what you can tell to strangers, but that is below the line.

them how a little gas never killed anyone.

The jokes aren't based around actual pain. It's not sadism( ). While it is making light of the subject, it isn't just "HAHAHAHAHA, the blue-footed booby is being shot down and gutted"

Read it.

How is that immature? You disagreeing with a joke and being triggered off of it has nothing to do with maturity whatsoever.

If anything, you need to be more tolerant and think of others. When the joke is made, people actually think about the victims. They have good intentions. You shouldn't just spite people and start trying to ostracize them unless they have ill will.

rtbf2256182411 votes

Wow a Trump supporter. I think i've got nothing else to say but good luck in the next life. Absolutely appalling to hear that "Trumps speaks to people that are more educated than i am." Yeah right. Sure man. Propably one of the worst presidents that will run USA if Hilary won't.

"Oversensitive" is the no.1 excuse. You don't go to a funeral and yell out, "Man, he sure ain't "coffin" now is he? hahahaha" I bet everyone would want you out of the funeral, presumably with bruises.

Except that judging from the vote count itself, i can say you're being disagreed with silently because noone cares what you think about it, you clearly lack intuition and manners.

And there's a fine line between joking and pure joy over someone being..gutted. I'm talking about dumb jokes.

You're now bringing maturity here but you're fighting for your rights to make inappropriate jokes.Nice hypocrisy.

Yea i'm sure every time some retard says a joke about 9/11, they think about the victims beforehand for about 5 seconds and how could the world be a better place if they told a joke about it for another 5 seconds, mentally preparing to tell it.. Mhm, totally.

Most people who even make these kinds of jokes are little kids anyways so tells a lot about why you still care that i don't approve of it.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Wow a Trump supporter

I don't support Trump. Don't want to advocate HIllary either. Both are bad.

Propably one of the worst presidents that will run USA if Hilary won't.

This kind of stuff gives a good idea about what type of person you are.

Oversensitivity isn't an excuse. Once again, you use a bad comparison. The joke isn't DIRECTED towards laughter specifically at the death or pain a person or group of people are undergoing. Get it through your head please.

And there's a fine line between joking and pure joy over someone being..gutted.

Exactly. I've said it multiple times and I don't want to say it again. The joke isn't DIRECTED towards laughter specifically at the death or pain a person or group of people are undergoing.

The jokes aren't immature. Your attitude, however, is a good example of that.

You're basically saying "it's a joke, get over it." when the whole problem is that it's a BAD inappropriate joke. Noone gives a shit what it's meant to be if it's offensive anyway.

"You're immature." Is that supposted to make yourself look more mature? You're the keyboard warrior here not me. And you're somehow saying with that that you didn't like what i said in the last part because you don't even bother to address it. Propably cuz you know i am too right on this one.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Um..no it doesn't. At all.

It shows you are careless, and quick to jump to conclusions.

You're basically saying "it's a joke, get over it."

No I'm not, and I've already said it. If the question is the morality of the joke, people should be punished /weighed based on the intentions as opposed to actions.

You're immature. The last paragraph shows it even more.

rtbf2256182411 votes

Do clarify.

So your argument is:"If it has good intentions then it's fine."? No it isn't. There is such a thing as common courtesy and risk. Grow up! I think it's you who's naive and blind. You can't even bring a clear point against me an descents to repeating yourself like a parrot. "You're immature, you're immature...etc" Well no i'm not and i explained why.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Ok.

In these boards, you see the word "cancer" flying around a lot. How many people are diagnosed with cancer? How many die because of it? Does that me we shouldn't use the word "cancer" as well? Same thing applies to many other events; the bubonic plague, the great depression, africa, the crusades, civil wars, etc.

A modern example would be all the Harambe and BLM sarcastic jokes.

Jokes don't need to be simple too. Some are short, some are long and elaborate. There are sarcastic jokes, there are shock humor jokes, etc.

It isn't black and white; there is a lot of gray. Somewhere in the gray, is a constantly shifting line. The one that should not be crossed. As for where this line is found, it varies between person and person. If the logic against good intentions is that it's not courteous because it crosses the line, then a good majority of what is accepted as comedy in both past and present should not be treated as such, because they will inevitably cross the line on some person. Obesity(and diabetes)would be another example. Obesity has been happening all over America, and diabetes has also killed many. Yet no one will protest against fat jokes.

The line continues to extend as time goes on. It's practically a forced, slow censorship. You make a joke about animal activists, and the next day you can't mention it anymore because it's offensive.

MonkeyMadness7 votes

this world could always use a few more jokes.

And a lot less oversensitive people that get triggered by everything. Way to be not one of those ppl, take my upvote.

warmcorntortilla3 votes

No offense, but you're not the only Jewish person out there, and it's perfectly legitimate for those Jewish people that are upset and hurt by the memory of the Holocaust to not want to play with self-described Nazis.

Acknowledging that tragedy hurts doesn't make people not happy or easily triggered. It makes them human, with the ability to experience a full-range of human emotions. Most of polite society has agreed to not make light of genocide--a pretty damn low bar, if you ask me.

Fondling Gems3 votes

And I fully support those people. I know I don't speak for most, or even many. However I find that this world is a brighter place when the people in it know how to take a sorrowful event and not be dragged down on it. Mourning and sorrow definitely have a place in our life, but sometimes you have to start taking steps to move past that. That is all I try to do, because I know very well where dwelling on sorrow can lead you.

I am not trying to say it was a happy event, or even something that should be made light of, but jokes are the only way I know to help cheer people up and so jokes it is.

I fully support each individual's right to feel their own way. I just try to do what I can to help the community as a whole move away from the tragedy of the event.

Just to be clear, I fully support each individual's right to think, feel, and react as they will. I also don't think the Holocaust is a light or laughing matter, but I do feel that it is time for the sorrow of the community, not the sorrow of the individual, to be pushed back somewhat.

Removing sorrow and bringing cheer may be what I work for, but I am not insensitive to the individual's position in that.

Not everyone has to be like you, would you be ok if we started making jokes about the people who died in 9/11? Or the school shootings in Sandy Hook? Or the Boston Marathon, or the Orlando Shooting?

Think before you speak.

Would you feel the same way if it was about a club named Crus4dor? Or Mao Zed0ng? Or STALlN?

Nazis are bad, but they're not the only ones who commited (war) crimes in the past. The anchestors of all of us did. The reason why there's such stigma towards Nazis is because of propaganda. Yes it are facts, but if Russia was now the world leader, they'd use the fact of two atomic bombs on Japan and the slaughter of nearly an entire race while putting the remainder in reservations for their propaganda. It's the media that dictates what is right and wrong.

Politics in a thread like this? Nice one. Personally I could care less about political standpoints but if I were held up with a knife to my throat I would most certainly say they should both win and in fact they should hook-up. (Trump X Hillary) plz. No one was meant to win 2016 except for that one Gorilla we all miss. (There are way 2 many jokes about Harambe so I figured lets just add another).

Hey.. he mentioned stalin , mao and other politician leaders that killed massive amount of people and/or violating human rights.

I just added another example of one.

Not like I stated you are basket of deplorable if you vote or don't vote for someone.

MonkeyMadness2 votes

Would you feel the same way if it was about a club named Crus4dor? Or Mao Zed0ng? Or STALlN?

Are you actually trying to say that the Crusades were on the same level as the Holocaust? Because if you are you need to get educated like right now...In fact, the crusades did a lot more good for the world than harm, and that's true for both sides. Unless you're talking about a different crusade, ofc, but as far as I know, the only crusade that is known by that name are the Christian attempts to retake Jerusalem.

Dr Poro2 votes

What good did the crusadors do? Yes, I'm talking about the ones trying to recapture Jeruzalem. Other than trying to convert as many people as possible to christianity, they slaughtered more than they succeeded to convert. Is christianity a better religion than any other? I don't see any good in forcing a religion upon anyone.

According to this site http://waitbutwhy.com/2013/08/the-death-toll-comparison-breakdown.html the amount of casualties is estimated on 1m-3m. Yes, that's about a third of the holocaust estimate (6m is an estimate because closer research is forbidden btw) but then there is Mao with 10 times that amount.

Adanim2 votes

{quoted}

the crusades did a lot more good for the world than harm

That is your opinion, and one that isn't shared by many who aren't Christian, and even so, many Christians don't agree with it (if they even know about it in the first place).

And who's to decide what's inappropriate?

Stalin, Trump, Hitler, Hillary...whatever they did or do is nothing I could ever influence, and so I don't care about any of them. Braced for downvotes by voicing my opinion, in a place that is supposed to have a freedom of speech.

Manadar2 votes

I love how Trump gets lumped in with mass murderers as if saying the wrong thing is on par with the crime of mass murder. It just encapsulates this thread so well and of course a lot of millennials actually think this way.

PaladinNO3 votes

I love how Trump gets lumped in with mass murderers...

I know, and what either the two politicians got to do with any of this is beyond me as well, but seeing how using his and/or her name is apparently required in order to make an example people understand (judging by what I've read elsewhere in this thread), I added them in my argument above.

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

It is, you just have to be accountable for the things you say and not expect to just say whatever without consequence.

PaladinNO2 votes

Of course! If I say something inappropriately (though I try to not do so with intent - in which case it's likely a carefully selected joke, with a very specific phrasing so it couldn't be misunderstood), I would expect to be either corrected or reprimanded depending on the perceived severity.

Though I would demand to be so in a proper fashion, should such an event occur, and not just a "fck you"-reply or a silent downvote (which is essentially the same thing).

Which is why there are a few things I generally don't want to discuss online: politics, religion or any kind of personal information.
