Down voting problem (DISCUSSION)

I don't know if it's just me but there's a lot of nonsensical down voting happening across this board. Most of the down votes are directed at threads about OP's punishment or critiquing riot's system and at comments questioning the system or critiquing riot. While most of the up votes are directed at comments telling OP they messed up.

As per the Universal Rules

Up votes and down votes are intrinsically tied to how threads and comments are perceived. It’s easy to simply down vote something you disagree with, and up vote things that support your views. We can do better. Consider up voting thoughtful discussions and comments, even if they disagree with your perception of things. The more valuable conversation we have on the boards and the more that conversation is recognized as a good contribution to the community, the better everyone’s board experience will be.

If you take a look, a lot of discussion threads are blasted with down votes, a lot of explanation request threads are blasted with down votes. The majority of threads on this board have a negative vote counter. I doubt that the majority of the threads there have no value in conversation, it seems that people are just voting purely based on agreement and disagreement rather then on the discussion and comments. it doesn't stop there. I've personally been mass down voted by a couple of users (and I'm sure some of the more controversial/critical users here have been to) on every comment I make regardless of content. For a board that's supposed to help with toxicity it certainly has a lot of toxic behavior ingrained in it.

I don't know if users that abuse the up and down vote systems can be detected/moderated or have actions taken against them but this is an actual quality of life issue with this board that needs to be addressed.

Note to mods: Not sure if this belongs here or in discuss the boards because this does pertain to player behavior and "fostering a healthy community in which discussions can revolve around player behavior systems or in-game suspensions" as per the description of the board. A bit meta but lemme know if it should be moved.

{quoted} it seems that people are just voting purely based on agreement and disagreement

nothing wrong with this at all

instead of delving into a full response to an obviously toxic OP, a downvote is a great way to disagree without muddying the waters with repeated and easily googled answers that the OP wont listen to anyway

Such as you following me around to downvote my comments?

if you are being downvoted to hell, then that obviously means that your comments arent helpful or on topic with the OP's post. You may think what you say is ok, but others will not. Even the OP themselves can downvote you if they see your comment isn't contributing to the post or just being plain rude to them or others.

"The majority of threads on this board have a negative vote counter" because - in the opinion of the majority of voters, who are allowed to express their thoughts and opinions just as much as the people who post the majority of threads - they add no value. Seeing as how those downvoted threads are a bunch of formulaic nonsense ("why was I banned? I didn't break the rules. Well, maybe I did, but I hate the rules, and the system is dumb, and you're all dumb for explaining it to me, you can't fire me, I quit"), that shouldn't be surprising.

Downvoting low-quality content isn't an abuse of the voting system, and there's no need to ban everyone who downvotes such content.

I'm just gonna move this here for neatness.

And as for your comment on prejudice, I will only accept the first definition, because I don't consider my comment as "adverse".

A preconceived judgement, sure.

It's rated teen which means 13+, way far from your definition of adults.

Dude 13 year olds are the most toxic people on the planet.

Even going by your definition, shouldn't adults not be immature as to boo and hiss against public discussion, critique and requests for help?

Show me a comment thread where someone is booing and hissing and getting anything but downvotes. Oh and before you try to give me a dissenting opinion stop right there. Disagreement is not booing you.

Shouldn't "they have the mental fortitude to handle stuff like this" without throwing a hissy fit?

I have the mental fortitude to challenge you directly on your belief that people need to be coddled.
