a potential solution to support discrimination

make it so assists count as "half a kill" and after every 2 assists. it would reset. and put a kill on your kill total

Good support players have kda that's something like this 2/8/20 or 1/3/25.

BUT there is discrimination in lower elo where only the kd portion, without the assists, is used as a way to determine that a player "sucks" or "lacks any quality decision making skills."

For example, you're sitting at 1/3/15 at the time and you say "Let's go get 2nd tier top turret." In response, your teammates may say "Shut up you feeder," straight out ignore you in game, or claim that you are toxic for even suggesting what to do. BUT at the same time, the person that is sitting at 10/9/1 says "Let's go do 2nd tier top turret" your teammates, at least in lower elo, will stop everything they are doing and help that person.

As support being my main role, I experience this all the time. Usually people listen to me after I gank over to mid via "Dragon Lane" and score a few kills there.

Why? What sort of discrimination?

item 3041 for everyone then??

....you know it still gives stacks on assists right?

How is having a support with lots of assists vs kills discriminating? As a support you should WANT your ADC to get kills and get fed...you should want to be part of those kills (aka assists). You want to set them up and make them happen.

people will see your 4 deaths even though you have 25 assists and ignore everything you say because "you're a feeder"

And that's not anything that changing how kills are counted will fix. Players who think like that either get better at the game and move on, or they don't, and stay bad at it. There's nothing anyone can do to get them to think differently.

Kills and assists mainly show how much gold that person has, which should translate to how many finished items they have.

When a champion is killed, the main killer gets a certain amount of gold, while 50% of that amount is divided up among everyone who got an assist on it.

I've had many many games where I've had maybe 1-3 kills, 0-5 deaths, and 10-30 assists, and NOT ONCE did anyone ever call me a feeder or say that I'm not pulling my weight on the team.
If you want kills that bad then play a carry support like Annie instead of Soraka

Lucky you. I've been in hundreds of games where just the opposite happens.

It's not about getting kills as support as to overall helping the team win through feeding, giving vision for, clearing vision, etc. BUT some how KD factors into the conversation during games so that the support or any player really is deemed useless due to their negative KD.

Even if you do 99% damage and someone else gets the kill, that is considered an assist. As a support let's say you do 1% of the damage for a kill that's also considered an assist. Vice versa, doing 1% of the damage means you got the kill AND got the kill gold. That isn't in dispute as you want your carries to get the main portion of the gold.

The problem is that an assist isn't really seen as much of anything. Almost all complaints about some player or whatever surround the Kill/Death ratio.

BUT any smart person knows that say a kill equals 300 gold, but 2 assists totaling 150 gold each does actually equal 300 gold. Kills literally show how much gold you have not about if you better.

Of course you do. I have played with Bronze all of the way to Diamond 1 players and at least most of the time they understand the roles of games and the kda that will happen with your champions or builds.

For the last few years I have played mainly with Silver 2 to Gold 3 players, at least in ranked. In some games, the problem lies with the idea that communication with your teammates can be very difficult. Especially if you have a bad KD... notice I never said "kda." Doesn't matter if you are a tank, gearing only tank, your teammates will be salty if you don't have a lot of kills.

I have had hundreds of salty teammates. >.>

Well lucky you being in that less that 0.5% of players in the game with no Negative teammates.

My Sea Cow1 votes

Just be an adult and mute them and move on if they are. I don't understand how hard that is

LordGeovanni2 votes

Its more child like to just accept shit because its shitty and pretend like nothing is wrong while adults agitate for change to make things better. Discourageing discussion is dictator like and helps less people less people than the alternative.

FrankerX1 votes

why would you even care? only if you suck. im a decent support thus i dont care if ppl see how i carried that horrible adc or how i didnt.

LordGeovanni1 votes

Quite frankly influence is significant in games if you have a game winning strategy but idiots wont see it because you dont have alot of kills then that can cause you games your team could have other wise won.

soulbatt1 votes

really an easy solution is to add an assist streak emblem on the right side of character health like they have for killstreak bounties so low tier players can see something is being done right

How will putting 2 assists as 1 kill help you and your team win games?
