How you treat your supports, AKA biting the hand that fed you

So this is indicative of the kind of treatment that supports deal with regularly. I don't want to equate it with civil rights, but people's responses (read: raging) turns it into reflections of historic issues.

The latest chapter of this was in my first game this morning. I was Braum and the ADC was Graves. He demands in the champion select that I build him a Zeke's. I think about it and eventually agree. In the first five or so minutes in the game, we stomp the bot lane... and then I kill a minion. He starts getting bitchy with me, even though he was not around to claim it and it was going to get killed by a minion anyways. I ignore it... and then in our next exchange of fire with the enemy, I'm coming back to the lane, he's already engaged with the enemy. I'm hoping he'll survive long enough for me to get in there and save him from getting blown up. I jump past him as he jumps back, as he's low on health, and I engage with the support to hold them back as he gets to safety.

............................................................................

....And then I accidentally kill her. Right as Graves fires his ult.

He starts SCREAMING at me in a massive string of profanity for stealing his kill, and continues to do so for the rest of the game. Even after I got him fed, even after he's stomping the fuck out of the enemy, even though we won the game, he's still blood-puking pissed at me for stealing his kill because, in his words, "You're the support".

There is no excuse for treating the support like that when they got you an extremely early lead. They are not second class citizens, they are not your personal slaves. They are champions playing a different role. You want to know why there are so few and dwindling dedicated supports out there right now? Because of your excessive mistreatment. You expect them to basically be your butler for the game and yet you shit all over them for literally everything that goes wrong. So what if they get a few kills? An enemy death is always a good thing, no matter who claims it; it opens you up to do other things, like claim objectives or fall back to recuperate. Stop thinking about this game only in kills, and stop thinking of the support as nothing more than a playable minion.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. Even the ADC's I know well and like occassionaly get annnoyed about an accidental KS and the worst ADCs get really rude about it. My worst offender is Nami . Bounce a heal to keep the stupidly low ADC from dying, accidentally KS. Try to bubble/ult the enemy so they can't flee, accidental KS. Gee, I'm sorry that I'm trying to save your ass. Go take your CS now that they're out of the way.

First blood on a support is better than first blood on the ADC. Why? The enemy ADC most likely is dead so you will get a gold and exp lead anyway, PLUS your support can buy his Sightstone ultra fast.

lol... I think I need to make a montage of how I treat my supports (like a gift from above most of the time, and absolutely worst case scenario is me not saying anything to them).

A janna accidently auto attacks/steals the cannon minion Janna: "Fuck sorry!" me: "lol dw"

We double kill them botlane, but my thresh gets both kills Thresh "sorry! nerves didn't mean to" me: "lol serious? without your well timed exhaust I would've died"

I don't understand why I hear so much adc hating on supports when all you do is decrease your chance of them helping you if they end up hating you...

Thankfully I rarely get flamed like that, even when I play as Zyra and my plants accidentally secure kills. Honestly, I feel riot should make a statement that if a support is flamed or harassed, they have the right to go and support another lane without facing any negative repercussions from reports.

Whenever the support I'm laning with says sorry I'm just like "???? What happened?" I really don't get annoyed as long as it wasn't obviously intentional on an enemy that had zero chance of escape. I'll gladly take my 2 waves of freefarm thank you very much. I'll never understand the people that flip shit over it, most of your gold comes from cs anyway so if you're not csing like ass the assist gold is fine.

Welcome to the League of Toxic as hell ADCs. There are like, 5, ADC mains that aren't massive douchebags in all of NA. In my support experience, Vayne's are worse than any other.

Borsalino2/20/2016, 6:42:11 PM2 votes

I just play Brand support.

Sorry man. You certainly didn't deserve that. The truth is despite Riot's public PR messages against this sort of behavior. In game they completely support it. I am sorry.

MasterSomething2/20/2016, 10:51:24 PM2 votes

People wonder why support is almost always given to them when they select fill/support. It's because literally nobody else plays it because of toxic ADCs.

Problem #1: There are A LOT of bad ADC players. Problem #2: There are A LOT of bad Graves players entering the scene. Problem #3: There are A LOT OF bad Support players. Problem #4: There are Support players who intentionally steal farm and kills. Problem #5: There are A LOT of ADCs and Support players who do not know how to control minion waves. Problem #6: Anonymous players have no reason to be courteous to other anonymous players (strangers).

Might not be the way to go a bout it all but i have stopped trying to say sorry i have stopped trying to ask them to be polite and i am trying to get angry myself anymore.

Now a days i just reply with: Ohhh keep it up big boy that dirty talk does it for me gets me raging hard!

I know not very elegant but it either makes them stop talking and if not at least the others in the team have a giggle.

If it does get worse tho i just have to mute them. I can still do my job well enough assume they are an bad AI and will make silly mistakes and you are just there to make sure they do not die cause of it.

But to be clear I always try and talk in champ select ask what the ADC would like and if he will be mostly farming minions in lane or wants me to pick something to set up kills easier. Altho they barely ever reply but then again im silver so might just be the elo.

Oh and i know.... not really the way i should go a bout it all... <.>

A kill is a kill. If I'm ADCing and a support gets the last hit, that's fine. Just one less person in lane so I should be able to push and make up for it on the minions or possibly tower. I would rather ensure a kill rather than have someone sneak away or unnecessarily kill one of us.

I have a solution to your problem. Play item 3092 Thunderlords Blitzcrank . If you take kills, fuck the sightstone and rush frost queens, youll do so much damage if your adc tilts and flames you can 100-0 a carry with your ult in the laning phase and get your team ahead. Everyone wins!

It's been a long time since I didn't have an adc like this. Lucky me. ^^

But the other role that seems to be a butler is the jungler. Tough, I didn't have those kind of teams for a long time too. For the jungler, the fact is that every lane want to be baby sit and every lane shits on the jungler if they died. Yeah, I am taking risks by playing Support and Jungler. At least, I like playing adc too.

Depends of the kind of adc that you have as Support. Some adc will tend of playing more passive early than others. Depends also of the combination of the adc/support. If you have Lucian/Nami or Jinx/Thresh you would want to engage. ^^

I used to main support. But now I only play with people I know because quite frankly, if you don't know your adc, they're going to hate you. good or bad support. the poor support gets hated on. summoner 3 Gettin tired of this

erindine2/22/2016, 7:20:04 PM1 votes

Every support main encounters "that" ADC who tells you what champ to play, what to build, and despite whether you do those things or not still will flame everything you do. I immediately apologize for KSing and more often than not, a normal ADC will just say "no problem" or "a kill is a kill," but there's always that one ADC (normally the same b*tch that doesn't buy a pink ward the entire game) decides you have committed high treason. It's ridiculous.

I agree, the majority of players treat their supports like trash. And with the removal of assist sprees and nerfs of the gold generating items, supports are starved for gold as much as earlier seasons. Unfortunately with the snowballing changes they also tend to shafted for levels too.

For some examples; I had a game as nami the other day with a jihn, we were against a draven & soraka, and were loosing lane. Once our pantheon started roaming we started makng a comeback; all game long, soraka & me were THE lowest leveled champions on our teams all game long. Despite soraka winning her lane, she still ended up being the lowest level in the game; and both of us were 2 items behind for nearly 10 minutes, we didn't start catching up in gold until the teamfights. I usually take the blue or yellow eye since the green one is next to useless late game when your entire team 2 shot minions.

Even in the teamfights we weren't having much impact, between pantheon, zed, xinzhao & leesin, niether of us could heal our teammates fast enough; nor could we cc the enemy players as they'd just sidestep with ease. Teamfights ended up boiling down to which pair of assassins could instakill the enemy team, but that's not why the game lasted this long. Pantheon was raging all game long, constantly blaming his teamates for dying while using them for bait so he could get easy kills. When we (as jihn & leesin asked as well) requested pantheon to stay as a group instead of just waiting on the flanks, he laughed and refused; we could've won 15 minutes earlier if he actually tried playing with the team.

Between being behind in gold & levels nearly every game, and arrogant players bashing their own team, support isn't a wanted role at all. It wouldn't surprise me if the meta shifted back to kill lanes or something more drastically different.

"Tough shit kill them faster then."

I have no shame in claiming a kill if the chance shows itself. Piss on whatever the ADC says a kill is a kill. If they want to cry about it just tell them to cry a river, build a boat, take your issue and sail away.

This just in... everyone in league treats everyone else like crap. Welcome to the internet. It's sad, but it's true.

Carries do tend to be the worst tho, since they're the ones with the nice scores at the end of won games more often than not. Big egos abound.
