How you treat your supports, AKA biting the hand that fed you
So this is indicative of the kind of treatment that supports deal with regularly. I don't want to equate it with civil rights, but people's responses (read: raging) turns it into reflections of historic issues.
The latest chapter of this was in my first game this morning. I was Braum and the ADC was Graves. He demands in the champion select that I build him a Zeke's. I think about it and eventually agree. In the first five or so minutes in the game, we stomp the bot lane... and then I kill a minion. He starts getting bitchy with me, even though he was not around to claim it and it was going to get killed by a minion anyways. I ignore it... and then in our next exchange of fire with the enemy, I'm coming back to the lane, he's already engaged with the enemy. I'm hoping he'll survive long enough for me to get in there and save him from getting blown up. I jump past him as he jumps back, as he's low on health, and I engage with the support to hold them back as he gets to safety.
............................................................................
....And then I accidentally kill her. Right as Graves fires his ult.
He starts SCREAMING at me in a massive string of profanity for stealing his kill, and continues to do so for the rest of the game. Even after I got him fed, even after he's stomping the fuck out of the enemy, even though we won the game, he's still blood-puking pissed at me for stealing his kill because, in his words, "You're the support".
There is no excuse for treating the support like that when they got you an extremely early lead. They are not second class citizens, they are not your personal slaves. They are champions playing a different role. You want to know why there are so few and dwindling dedicated supports out there right now? Because of your excessive mistreatment. You expect them to basically be your butler for the game and yet you shit all over them for literally everything that goes wrong. So what if they get a few kills? An enemy death is always a good thing, no matter who claims it; it opens you up to do other things, like claim objectives or fall back to recuperate. Stop thinking about this game only in kills, and stop thinking of the support as nothing more than a playable minion.
. Bounce a heal to keep the stupidly low ADC from dying, accidentally KS. Try to bubble/ult the enemy so they can't flee, accidental KS. Gee, I'm sorry that I'm trying to save your ass. Go take your CS now that they're out of the way.
's are worse than any other.
Thunderlords
. If you take kills, fuck the sightstone and rush frost queens, youll do so much damage if your adc tilts and flames you can 100-0 a carry with your ult in the laning phase and get your team ahead. Everyone wins!
