Why can't players opt out of having their info displayed on 3rd-party websites?

I know, Riot opened up their API for 3rd-party websites to access some player data and there was a recent revision to Riot's policy on this.

However, why do players not have the option to opt out of 3rd-party websites collecting data on them?

I wouldn't mind if my own info wasn't used against me to flame and berate me, especially in ranked queues. It is terrible to have someone look up your data profile on these websites, look at some number, and just flare it at your face like "wow <50% trash player" or "why do you play that champ, you only have 43% WR on them?"

It just enables toxic players to harass players who want to play the damn game and mind their own business

It's easy to mind your own business and ignore those people. You can even just drop your ego and agree with them. Something like "yeah I suck sorry. The champ is fun af Though".. I do it all the time and I'm not suicidal. Try it. It doesn't hurt if you just lean into it. Like, what a joke anyways... they're insulting your record on a video game? Think how inconsequential a video game is. Who cares?! If you wanna just "mind your own business", then ignore them and do it. Not trying to be a dick, honestly, try it... just agree and rejoice in the fact that you're gonna report them after and possibly mute during the game and enjoy yourself, while they rage and miserably judge people. They aren't happy people, don't let them drag you down with them.

I agree with the idea of wanting to opt out. In the meantime I guess just mute them.

The data that other sites have access to is all available on Riot servers. Preventing your data from API access won't prevent it from being publicly available on Riot services.

tbh you'll just be flamed for having it hidden instead. "Must be trash, his account is set to private."
