CAN WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT SOFT-INTERS

Soft inters are people in your games who, for some reason, decide to just subtlely lose the game and not try. This should be bannable since this ruins the experience for other players and encourages bad behavior since there are no repercussions for acting like a complete dick to your team for your own selfish reasons.

The problem is much, much more noticeable in mid and high elo because the subtle throws that soft inters are known for have drastic effects on players.

For example, just had a kai sa last game who repeatedly tried to ff, bought the wrong items and then proceeded to sell them to put herself further behind even though she was 0/11, refused to group and play safe by just endlessly splitting and getting caught out while saying no u to any criticism given to her.

you're looking for a quick fix for a very complex problem

for example what if someone is "soft inting" but doesn't say a word all game long, how is a system, or even a person supposed to know if it's inting or poor decisions or bad game?

Okay if you can find a way that 100% catches soft inters and is never a false positive, give it to riot.

What you think is soft inting could be someone trying their best. You can't see inside their head. And not following someone's instructions, not grouping, etc, are NOT considered trolling. People may play the game how they want.

People who soft int are doing it because they want attention.

Do not give them attention (I.E. criticism or flaming) for their behavior, and they will eventually give up. This is just one reason Riot bans people for chat toxicity, because it feeds the behavior of trolls who are harder to detect.

You can obviously tell when one of your teammates is soft-inging, and chances are that they won't listen if you talk to them anyway. So save yourself the time and trouble of typing in chat, and ignore them. They wouldn't have listened anyways, and if they are trolling then by not saying anything you're not rewarding them for their behavior.

Soft inting is literally the same thing as having a dumb %%%% on your team that feeds endlessly, usually Yasuo players. If you ban soft inters, you have to ban all the window licking dumbfucks that feed in games every hour. The ONLY difference between a soft inter and a feeder is intent which is an abstraction that exists only in their minds.

Not going to help at all, but figured I'd share.

in my match history about 6-7 games back theres a teemo that was soft inting.. going 0-4 at 3 minutes, 0-8 at 14 minutes, refusing to ff at 15 minutes, and ending the game.. 1-10? The whole time saying things like "Oh shucks" and "whoops" whenever he died.

I reported him, and relogged into League, and almost immediately got the popup saying "A recent report of yours was validated, and a punishment was issued."

Being that Teemo is the only person I reported, and he wasn't being toxic in chat, I think its fair to assume that they punished him for soft inting. He had a few other questionable games on his match history.

tl;dr I used to think they didnt punish, but I just got the notification that someone I reported for soft inting was punished.

Well, soft-inting is up there with the hard-inters (e.g., the guys who run it down mid) and the constructive inters (e.g., the guys who deliberately set up losing fights). You can report it - but it's just that much harder to prove and there would have to be a track record of doing it.

On top of that, I think proving soft-inting is that much harder to do the further you get away from the higher ranks in the game (given that it would be rarer and more obvious when it was occurring at those tiers).

So go ahead and fill in the reports. The FF votes and strange builds can be pointed out in the comment box. But I think it will be an uphill battle- and I know it has been successfully reported at least once. (One guy who even played with all Tears in the last few stages of one game when there was still a winning chance did get disciplined.) But unless the player repeatedly does this a couple of games in the row, it will be tricky to prove.
