Being an insufferable asshole is.

Riot also doesn't care what everyone else said. All reports are separate. If two kids are fighting and an adult sees that, then they will punish all involved. One kid pointing at the other and saying "But he started it" isn't going to get him out of trouble.

Also holy fuck you typed up an entire book there. That's more than I say in like 10 games. Maybe 20. I know it can be hard but at times you just need to shut up and play the damn game.

Something i have noticed on PB boards is the ones who are getting banned or perma have chat logs just like this. Play the game don't let people get under your skin just mute them. Now you are 1 slip up from a perma take that under consideration.

Ehh. If I have to go every game muting everyone...what's even the point of the communication feature in the first place? Don't get me wrong, I understand what you're saying. But for a large amount of players, this is an every-game thing. Especially in this low an elo such as where I am.

They can still see your chat. It is just less likely you flame them if you're not retaliating against their chat.

Alternatively, it seems kinda hard for you to stick to "explaining", and more likely that you will venture into either bossing or being negative towards them. I would recommend trying to stick to important info: "this dragon will help me in lane if u can come jungler" things like that. Everyone else knows how to play too generally. You're not explaining anything new, especially not if you're flaming them.

You should not say that in the first place.

Chat is meant for positive, strategic communication. Not negative, blaming, past communication. There is no reason to say what you did do/said/someone did/didn't do, etc.

Depends on what's considered flaming. I've been playing since season 3 and I still don't understand what "flaming" is. From what I've seen around the boards, it's anything from racial slurs to telling your support to not attack minions.

Meh, because I care more about helping people understand the problem than just hitting the multi-mute buttons and taking a loss. =/ I'm not the type of person to walk away when things go wrong...I like to help them go right.

Given that you've chosen that path, I understand how frustrating it can be. It sucks getting uncooperative teammates who wont help, and especially when they act toxic about it.

It's hard to get them to cooperate, but there are ways to do it. It takes a lot of determination and practice to communicate with people like that without letting them drag you down to their level.

I've been working on the skill for years and I'm still only mediocre at it, but I wish you the best of luck with it! Remember you can't let your temper get the better of you if you want to reach them effectively.

That'd be great tbh, because I don't know what the wrong direction is. I don't know if the problem is that I called them "bronze" or said they can't read or just the general fact that I was vocalizing my negative experience with a player. I don't know what I did that's enough to get me suspended for two weeks.

Generally speaking if you haven't been punished before then the only way to get a 14-day ban is to do something especially egregious. Be wary of using any language that people consider to be hate speech. Any derogatory terms for any group of people should be avoided at all costs. For example, don't use the N word, or F*ggot or anything else of that sort. (Hopefully using those here in this context won't get me in trouble, I'm just trying to provide you with an example).

But seriously, just going through my chat log--and that's the entirety of everything I said that game--the only two insults were "don't play jungle you're bronze at it" and "oh I forgot you can't read". The rest is just passive-aggressive "I asked for help, you should've helped." Seriously.

I've talked to some people though and apparently my problem is the passive-aggressive parts.

I think I cover talking about the past in my guide, if I didn't then just let me know and I can add more about it. Generally speaking though using the past tense isn't going to help you or the team to focus and make plays in the future, because every second that you spend thinking about the past instead of the future is a second wasted not developing strategies/plays and camaraderie to use later in the game.

The problem with being passive aggressive is that people can tell if you're acting that way towards them. And the result (in terms of gaining their respect and cooperation) is the same as insulting them. They will become upset with you and respect you less, they will be more likely to insult you back, and they will not cooperate with you to make the plays that you want to make in order to win the game.

I know it's really satisfying, I used to do that all the time (still slip up and do on rare occasions). But in my personal experience it just ends up never being worth the frustration and un-cooperation that results.

Ever try the "Kill them with Kindness" approach?? this works wonders on those people who make a comment hoping to tilt another person into raging so they can report them and have an excuse for why they game went the way it did.. Ask for help play safe.. u get gank under tower?? play safer have more wards set up.. request help again.. refrain from using all chat to complain to the other team.. dont cuss or blame anyone.. when others rage on u using cuss words just politely ask them to stop using that language.. from there if they continue then feel free to report them at the end of the game.. but most times if u dont throw back insults or other toxic comments they have nothing to go off of and usually give up....

but yes u deserved your ban...

Here is why i got banned aight i even explained it i dont know if you read it tho, i told my toplaner to play safe because he was basically fighting a fed yasou he was kayn top which i never seen in long time. So i told him to play safe and the midlaner because i was a little behind and they told me to fk of "help us or we will ruin your game and report" then when i tried helping them i failed coz i was behind, then thats when the heat came in they insulted me so hard that i couldnt take it and insulted back and then they reported me just 2 duo brain washed idiots. when i asked riot to really consider the ban and see what really happened they told me "you are responsible of everything that happens to your account even if you got insulted". Then thats when i said fuck this

Well, there's your mistake. You insulted them. In my case, I never actually insulted anyone as much as insulted a certain person's logic in the situation. At least in my mind, I did. Riot has a sort-of zero-tolerance for harassment no matter what side of the fence you're on. I just didn't think it extended to passive aggression as well.

It's not really about oppressing free speech. I feel it's more like...determining what's considered "harassment" and what should or shouldn't be punished. Should someone who's always positive be punished because they responded negatively to someone who was speaking negatively to them? Riot actively acknowledges the fact that toxicity spreads, but at the same time doesn't act according to that very acknowledgement. It feels like they're saying "we understand that one person's bad attitude can affect you even if you're staying positive" then punishing you because "you shouldn't have a bad attitude."

The point of the report function is to punish those who break gameplay rules, harass other players, ruin the fun of other players, intentionally hinder the team, and promote loss. If you don't tell someone what they do wrong and how they can be better, how will the be better? Are they saying we should accept that people will not play at the level we expect from them and should accept losses that can be prevented?

Someone should not be punished for saying "you should help when you know you should."

i didnt need to read the entire chat log.. 1. Cause it can be taken out of context. and 2. cause of your passive aggressive tone in the chat log.. not once did u say "sorry" or "My Bad"... you just tried to shift the blame on the jungler who may have been having his own issues... The blame game never wins an argument... My suggestion would be something like a 3 strike program.. ask for help in calm and collected manner 3 times.. if comes great make the best of it.. If it doesnt u just tighten up your game play and play super safe... get your CS when u can, Steal wolves or golems when can... This isnt about your teammates but more about evolving your attitude in game when something doesnt go your way.. dont engage in any verbal altercations.. just use chat for shot calling and over all communication of enemy movements... Also i find a well timed Roam into mid or into enemy jungle with your jungler can also work wonders for your relationships in game.. they will more willing to drop what they are doing like going to a personal buff like red or blue and help u out..

And if you received a 14 day ban id be REALLY careful from here on out.. from what I hear 14 day bans are the last warning Riot gives players before they straight up Perma ban u... if it also will help go thru the summoners code and read thru the section on player behavior.. this will show u where u may have gone wrong in the past..

How much time did you waste typing up all this shit? Ask yourself that. Whatever you can say with pings you can say with chat. Chat is the most tilt inducing thing in the game, because that is the source of toxicity itself which you became later on. Mute all every game if you can't handle chat without flaming, and just use pings dude.

Actually, not much time was wasted. All the chat was during either turret-hugging, safe farming, or death timer. And if pings were working, do you honestly think there'd be a reason for me to type so much? But I've learned my lessons from what this board has to say. If they don't listen just take the loss like a man.

So, I was able to chat with Krunchman on this, and now I have a clear understand of what happened and it makes a lot of sense. I knew that insults and passive-aggression were an issue, but general attitude and such I wasn't so sure about. It's the promotion of negativity in general that matters, and even if chat like this doesn't bother me it can bother others and that's not okay. If you're not helping with the words you say, don't say them at all. [sg-ahri-3]

Sure I can do that for you! Also, keep in mind, that sometimes there isn't a certain phrase that is negative, but rather the general attitude you're conveying can be negative. A good example is "ff15" or "ff20", which, by itself once or twice would be okay, since it just means someone wants to surrender. But if you start spamming it, or saying that the game is over, you can be influencing the game negatively.

It seems like a lot of your negativity this game is in the form of passive aggressive comments, and sarcasm. You spent a lot of time arguing with your teammates, or pointing out to the enemy team, that you didn't like your jungler and vice verse. For example, the following text:

The Highest Noon: I'unno The Highest Noon: help? The Highest Noon: lmao The Highest Noon: you're the jungler, after all The Highest Noon: oh The Highest Noon: the one who didn't ask for help

The Highest Noon: if you can't help someone who literally said they'd need help The Highest Noon: you just shouldn't play jungler The Highest Noon: just don't play jungler The Highest Noon: you're too bronze at it

Stuff like this doesn't really help the situation, and just adds fuel to the fire, which is why we consider it negative.

But it's not the flaming that I was punished for lol They specifically told me that much. It was the constant passive-aggressive negativity. The "flaming" is actually the most minor part of the punishment.
