As A permanently banned Player I feel as if Riot should offer 1year/5year/10year(ect.) bans instead

EDIT: I would appreciate feedback rather than blind downvotes I want an open discussion not a "you were toxic you deserve it get over it nub" type of deal :)

NOTE: I am in no way shape or form asking that THIS ACCOUNT be unbanned, or saying riot should unban anyone who's currently banned for life, I know what I did on this account was wrong and I know why it got me banned, and I accepted that a long time ago, this is just my thoughts on their tiered punishment system and how it could be improved for long term player retention and player reform.

So let me start: This account is indeed banned forever, I can not play on this account at all, I do have another account that Ive played on here and there, but more or less lost interest due to the sheer amount of time and effort and money that I had spent into this account and only to know I'll never be able to play on it again. I WAS toxic, I DID call people homophobic and racial slurs (f word and n word) and told people they were worthless cancer pieces of shit and so on and so forth and I DESERVED to be punished more than a 2 week ban.

however under the current state it goes: 1) chat restriction 2) chat restriction again 3) warning/serious 2 week ban 4) perm ban you are never welcome back ban.

However when I WAS toxic I was very immature, I was 15-17 years of age and I thought language like that was "cool" and "trendy" and I never understood why people takes words so seriously when there's a mute button, and had the mentality of "if you dont like it just mute me dumbass" I never could and never would grasp the concept that was WRONG for at least a couple years after when I started going to college when I was 20.

As I look back on it now I KNOW why what I did was wrong and I KNOW the mentality I had was immature and childish and not what Riot games wanted in their community, as a 23 year old adult now, I have matured and changed over time and have grown and matured out of that. It took me time away from league ALOT of time, but eventually I realized what I did was wrong and stopped fighting the system.

Thats why I feel as if riot REALLY cared about player retention and player reform they should offer more than just a two week ban or perm ban.

There are plenty of people who I feel are like me that would've benefited from a longer term ban such as 1-5 years, where they step away from league for a long time, and essentially mature and realize what they did was wrong, and would love to come back to the game without the toll of having to make an entirely new account and losing everything they worked so hard for.

Just my two cents. I wish I wouldve been given the chance to take a 5 Year ban, get my shit together and come back mature and changed and enjoy the game again.

You are not open to a discussion.

They do care about player retention - retaining the rest of us who can abide by the rules need to be held in higher consideration than those who don't. Finding more ways to expose us to players who earn themselves permanent bans is not in Riot's best interest.

I've known mature 15 year olds, and I've known 60 year old assholes. Time and age do not cause maturity.

The purpose of the perma-ban is to encourage the person to go elsewhere. Why should Riot do something counterproductive to that goal?

Riot used to give toxic players a long series of gradually-increasing suspensions. However, they found that players who got more than a few punishments would never stop misbehaving and receiving punishments. As the goal of the punishment system is to eliminate rule-breaking and Riot has absolutely no interest in coddling toxic players, the system was changed to eliminate this long tail of irredeemable players. Compared to the hundreds or even thousands of typical players who are bothered over dozens or hundreds of matches ruined by a toxic player, that one player's ability to annoy people merits no sympathy or concern. The preferred outcome of punishing a misbehaving player is reform: according to Riot's figures, most players who get one punishment never get another. However, when a player refuses to stop breaking the rules after a few warnings (punishments), they are removed from the game with a permaban because Riot no longer believes them capable of reform.

I agree. Lifetime is excessive and people do mature and get better with time. If people will just make a new acct anyway I don't see why they couldnt give people another chance after a long ban. Make them come back to a smaller threshold for toxicity so if they come back toxic again they'll be put out quickly.

Should just chat ban toxic players until the end of time, leave them to play with their accounts that they've no doubt spent years building up.

If they are being reported for inting, ban them from ranked indefinitely.

At least let them keep the champions and skins they've spent years to unlock.

Perma bans shouldn't be a thing, bans don't change people. Restrictions stop them.

You should just be able to pay your way out of bans.

I don't think a 5 year ban should be in place, I think 3 years should be the max increment for this, as you said you changed a lot over the years. 3 years is a lot of time to reflect. Also did you read what Imperiaal Panda and I were discussion on my post?

He had some great ideas on how support could implement this process through linking alt accounts to the main banned account for good credit as a way to show reform through games played without incident.
