The game needs more chat mutes and less bans.

Hear me out. My friend got a temp ban for something that I was not there for. Knowing him though he did most likely call other people trash and such, which is punishable. But actions are repeated and the banned players make new accounts and resume their behavior, which affects newer players. So I think that chat mutes should not lead up to being banned. I think being banned should have to do more with throwing the game on purpose because you want it to be over with etc vs just calling people trash. Just have less tolerance to those who have already been chat muted and less and less and less and less and so forth to the point that if someone says "you're trash" muted.

A friend of mine always told me that "it's no the big things that get me but the little things" So like for example not saying hello to someone or giving someone the cold shoulder makes that person hard to be around. Having fun with someone who has a sudden mood swing and cusses at you would be a big thing and is forgivable because we all make mistakes. So a big thing in league would be more like saying you're just a stupid bitch vs spam pinging ? and being like rengar what was that? when you make a mistake. little things are ultimately the most annoying to deal with.

The problem with constant chat mutes is that you then get players retaliating in other ways. Like you said, what's worse? Flaming, or someone purposely making you lose? Well, permanently muted players will make you lose, instead of simply insulting you, which you can just mute.

I got a 14 day ban for continuously telling people that flamed me they're worse than me and a lower rank than me. If people can't take that, they shouldn't even be playing the game. Chat mutes are a way better option imo

Plenty of people have brought this up.

The bottom line is Riot doesn't care And neither does the community. (Until they get banned).

Common phrase you'll hear is "You were given multiple chances, you deserve to be banned" ect.

This topic comes up allot, and the answer is still the same. On the topic of perma-mutes Riot Tantram posted about this a few months ago:

It really breaks down into two categories.

1.) Helping players reform 2.) Shielding others from the behavior, at a cost.

We used to issue chat restrictions that essentially scaled indefinitely.

We were able to determine that after a certain point the penalty no longer helped with reform. The 10-game and 25-game counts for chat restrictions are based on data that they were both light enough, and felt strict enough to encourage people to understand their behavior is unacceptable in game and change it.

We also saw that the players in this 'large restriction' category defaulted to gameplay altering means of harassing their team. It caused an increase in feeding and trolling.

The sample size of this population and time frame is huge. Essentially the time spanning from the introduction of chat restrictions to the introduction of IFS.

So my question for you is, would you rather have more feeders and less negative chat?
