My 'friend' was playing a match 'the other day'. He had queued up as fill, because he likes to play all positions. During champ select my 'friend' had gotten the bot lane, and declared . First pick supp picked , so my 'friend', being the fun loving gentleman that he is, offered to play supp. This offer was turned down by the . Not being a player to discourage off meta play, my 'friend' goes along with the bot lane.

Fast forward to the game itself... plays rather aggressive, and winds up going 0/9/9 in lane, and 1/9/0 for the match. This person was claiming to be new the entire time. Should my 'friend' have reported this player for feeding? He of course did not realize at the time that the was ranked silver 5, but we can leave that to the side for now.

Would you report a new player for playing poorly?

Side question...who would you have played along side a supp?

I wouldn't report a new player for playing poorly.

I wouldn't report a veteran for playing poorly.

It's best to report for int feeding when you specifically believe that they're intentionally trying to lose the game. Reporting for poor games muddies the data that the IFS uses to learn, and makes it much harder for it to detect actual intentional feeding.

If it is a rough game, a lot of times people can take that as intentionally feeding, if someone really wanted someone banned for intentionally feeding, they should start a report and view the person's match history and any hints in chat, potentially recording those hints for the report. Most of the times in a rough one, the ones playing poorly can be coming off a heavy loss streak or be dealing with some shit. Personally, I think someone who is silver 5 and playing in ranked going 0/9 kog'maw support is intentionally feeding, because there is no way that person is new, it takes so many games to level to 30 and then place. That's just my opinion.

I would never report any player for playing poorly, unless it's clear without doubt that they're feeding intentionally.

Second question, I certainly would be skeptical, but who am I to decide what champions other people play? I've won with, or lost against off-meta picks surprisingly often.

Yes I would, because off meta is fine with me. Have even done so with a zed supp

Feeding itself is not a punishable offense. Intentional feeding is the punsiable offense, and you have to prove without a reasonable doubt that they had the intention to loose.

Btw, I've done kog support w/ font of life and ardent censer before, main purpose is to shred defensive stats with Q and on hit. Sometimes it works, but the consistency isn't there to climb.

See, the problem with that is it allows people to play in a certain way that they are intentionally feeding but playing just barely well enough to plant seeds of doubt, therefore they get away with it.

Double-DPS bot is a thing. It has been from the very earliest days of the 1-1-2-J meta. I have successfully played Teemo "support" on many occasions. Granted, the extra DPS is often better with an AP who has at least a little CC, but that isn't in any way mandatory.

yes but by having double bot you weaken both champions by splitting cs I doubt very much the Kog let him Cs and had a gold item.

"It can't be done", said the guy who never bothered to try. I mean, you're arguing that double-DPS is suboptimal, but that's based on a very narrow definition of optimal. Best bot lane I ever had was me as Sona with a Jinx vs. a Cait + Leona. I had on full damage runes and masteries, which meant I was chewing up CS with the second half of my Q. Still completely dominated the lane, though, and ultimately won the match.

Maybe it's just the scientist in me, but I consider what works in live tests to be much more valuable than armchair theories.

While playing poorly cannot be punished, but a consistent history of feeding can be. You can report them if you feel that it was being purposely done, it's hard to find actual trolls that intentionally feed by IFS. But you can throw in a report, but I wouldn't announce the subject nor say you're going to report them in game or post-game. That will get you punished instead.

My friend was very well behaved, and did what he could to salvage the lane. It's not that hard not to flame.

That's a good thing, keep that friend around. They're rare to come by. They're really good influence and keeps the game tolerably fun most of the time. I was just giving you some heads up on the announcing the reporting part. But with that said and like I said earlier, you can report the player if you find it extremely suspicious.

A little tip to keep your reports viable. Normally when a player feeds in my game, I check out their op.gg history and check out their death locations graph. Seeing if they're running it down mid, or dying in their base while their outer turrets are up. If it matches up to my suspicion, then I report. I do understand people don't want to take the time to do that and just report so they can move onto the next game. But I like taking my time and understanding my situation in what happened and why I lose or how my team was a toxic influence.
