Why isn't kys automatically censored?

We all know this an acronym telling people to kill themselves (I've NEVER seen this used in a kind way). I don't understand why it isn't automatically censored like some of the other derogatory terms people use.

I'd personally just like to see rito add a "filter" feature to the chat thing where you can ban out your own phrases and such (with a potential "uncensored" option if you're someone like me who actively enjoys playing with their food). Then the playerbase can tune the chat to what they do/don't want to hear.

there was an old joke i read on the internet back when people were really into coming up with acronyms for instant messaging and chat rooms. I'm gonna be paraphrasing it down hard as i vaguely remember the details but i remember the point of it.

The guy was playing an online game like chess or something and the opponent won and he wanted to give some reply to show he wasn't a poor sport right. So he thinks to himself ill reply with "good for you" but ill shorten it to "gfy" and be mr l33t. The opponent get offended of course and the guy doesnt understand why till he explains what he thinks gfy stands for.

Ya i know i told it bad and you probably figured it out at gfy or good for you but the point is this story i remember from like 2002 maybe? and i didn't even know that acronym at the time. Some people don't and some do and it's not something that should be auto dealt with but maybe case by case and in the context of the conversation and game. but that is just my two cents.

Overwatch did this. They changed "gg ez" to phrases that make themselves look like what they type: immature, and not fit for the game or their community. It didn't do much, but it did make a LOT of people look like immature 10-12 year old kids.

Though, Blizzard from what I've been following, has been experimenting with things to actually make good on their word that they don't want to have an overly toxic community.

Because Blizzard actually cares about the players that give them money and are a company in reputable standard able to host multiple franchises and don't sit on their hands.

Because Blizzard actually cares about the players that give them money and are a company in reputable standard able to host multiple franchises and don't sit on their hands.

Well, they've had enough years of experience in PR to ensure that their playerbase will keep coming back to them.

That, and they also understand that a happy community isn't one that is at each others' throats.

A while ago riot said they had a internal debate on if they should censor everything that comes up as derogatory. They came to the conclusion of no, because everytime they would censor something , the community would find a way to express that word and then the cycle would continue. Example: Censor %%% Community: ky$

It would be a never ending cycle.

I got banned yesterday for saying (%%%) in the beginning of a game because my friend was playing the super catchy lux song in discord and we had a lux on our team. I didn't get chat restricted before that

You can always pull the thing blizzard pulled with "gg ez" in overwatch, but really, it won't matter in the end.

In terms of the chat filter, I don't know how easy it is to update it, but I do know for a fact that it won't stop people from saying it anyway, for example, typing it one line at a time, like so:

or they could always go a step further and just type out the entire phrase. A chat filter won't stop toxicity, it only slows it down.

Copy pasta a sentence into textfile and upload it. Simple. But it takes a few seconds of an employee, and that costs a few cents.

Other games have really harsh punishments for bypassing the language filter and write that into their rules, too. I am talking about 3 days, 14 days, perma bann 3 strikes modell, not the riot way of letting toxic players ruin a few hundred games and then MAYBE give them a chat restriction.

Well, you can ban them but that doesn't mean they can't come back. That's the main issue, really. >cue Tyler1 having his accounts banned permanently 10 times, but still coming back as a point.

If banning a player once or twice doesn't work, often times a third ban won't make much difference.

Have they really not been told irl to kill themselves? Or maybe they thought about that action because of all their hardships? Are you 100% sure about that and how can you prove it?
Killing oneself over a game.... that's LOW AF. Tbh one "%%%" = one permabanned account with no appeal that's what I would do if I was in Riot's place.

the thing is, 99.99% of the time when someone says to kay-why-ess they are not being serious. my friends and I say shit like that to each other all the time, it's just jokes and we're just messing with each other.

But in all seriousness, I just think there wouldn't be much of a point to it a long with censoring "wtf", as usual, people would just bypass it. +if it's censored you still know what the intent was anyway. But I liked the idea someone posted here to have your own personal censor list.

just yesterday i had a kled who fed lane and afkd under turret the whole game while we tried to scrounge the game together into a victory (we lost) and when i asked what his attitude problem was he simply said "%%%". After in the post lobby I politely told him not to say that because he might get to someone sensitive or a young person and he then, in response, said "%%%". I wouldn't mind it being censored. some weirder phrases are censored.

lol idk if this was just fixed but when i typed that in my post it censored it. funny.is it like that in game now too?

i made this arguement to people proving them wrong and they "tried" to argue then gave up becuase i was right.... say riot banned you for typing those 3 letters , and say you were made and decided to sue riot over your ban because of a bs reason...... its 3 letters that can mean many things so good luck trying to win that case there riot....no where does it say that you cannot type those 3 letters anywhere lol

Thought I'd let op know, That apparently even though the acronym "%%%" isn't censored, It IS flagged by riots reporting system as a 2 week ban-able offense.
