terms of service trolls

nothing grinds my gears more then people using the terms of use "agreement" to defend riot's overzealous ban policies. being forced to say "i agree"or not play isn't agreeing. it's called being extorted so they can't be sued. and just because they make you sign a document saying they can get away with anything short of murder, doesn't make it right.

EDIT. my issue isnt so much with the agreement itself. more with the people on the boards using it to neiner neiner people

How old are you?

I ask this seriously because you can't even be in mid-teens and think that telling people to behave as they would in normal society, and if not, kick you out, is exhortation.

That is a Terms of Service though. If you want to use their tech, program, and infrastructure, you agree to their Terms of Service. That's how it is. Like you can't come into my house and start doing whatever. If you do stuff I do not like, I'll kick you out. It's not trolling to remind people of reality.

It's not like you're being asked to do anything special. As far as the related polices go, it can be summarized as such:

Don't be an asshole.

Since when is agreeing to a few "behave yourself" clauses before playing known as "extortion"?

Do you know what extortion is? You're not being threatened in any way when you click I agree. Hence not extortion.

The concept is super simple, agree or don't play the game, that's a choice, there's no way around that.

It's not extortion in any shape way or form it's standard practice and it's super simple to figure that out.

I can't believe Rito made me agree to be accountable for my actions then held me accountable for my actions!!!!!!!!

Whenever you buy a computer the exact same thing happens. Riot is having you do what you did to have a system to play league on.

well of course its riots way to protect themselves they make the biggest investment into the game and have the most to lose.. and its not just riot its facebook, twitter and so on... all subscriber base companies have similar agreements and when you sign waivers for other things it releases them of liability.

in today society where you can get millions of $ for spilling coffee on your crotch companies have to protect themselves

It's pretty simple. You can only play if you follow their rules on THEIR game. If you don't, you get banned
