Higher ranked players show disdain/contempt toward lower ranked players

Because if you are a low rank, higher ranked players just tell you to shut up even when you make good points. If you piss somebody off, they just look at your profile or op.gg to find your rank and then have an arrogant attitude and treat you as an inferior. Some people get ranked anxiety like me. Others don't have the time to play League often. Some are stuck in elo hell. Maybe their mechanics are bad but game knowledge is decent. I hate being looked down upon just because where I ended up from my placement matches. You don't have to be plat+ to see if a build is sub-optimal or somebody/team is focusing the wrong target in a teamfight or how to play a specific champion matchup.

People who tend to do this don't really get "recognition" in other things in life, so they look into their games to get "recognition" through elo/rank.

It's human nature for people to seek some form of recognition or approval of others, and if they can't do so academically, socially, perhaps in other skills etc and that includes gaming, but gaming is pretty low down the scale in terms of "things worthy of being approved for". Ultimately there's still a reason why even esports players are looked down upon by the general society.

That's also why if you say it in the right way, you can shut down anyone who uses their rank/elo as authority by saying how they need to use their elo as autority rather than whatever else.

That's why someone like me can stay rational and still debate about anything in LoL despite being B5 for like, I dunno maybe 2 years (but then again I haven't touched ranked for that long too)

I think it's called something like 'false authority fallacy' or something

Their reasoning goes "they have a better rank thus whatever they say or do must be more 'credible' than low ranking players"

Not in and of itself, but it can give an indication of general game competence. Someone's opinion shouldn't be completely disregarded due to rank, nor should their rank be completed ignored

ahh but you missed a key point in my statement

the word " OPINION"

and alot of times what separates people in ranks is the ability to over come mistakes... realize their mistakes and dont repeat the mistakes...

Here's my unranked opinion of rank.

it's like a flashy business suit for a construction worker, it doesn't make him better at his job for just having a fancy outfit. it's mostly just to show off.

same goes for ranks. it's just a fancy symbol.

now you can hate me or love me. doesn't change my opinion.

Here's the thing... Someone who is high ranking knows more and is better at the game then someone who is low ranking. Yes, some people are jerks about it. But it doesn't change the fact that if someone is a higher rank they most likely know more than you. I have this one friend who will brag about getting X amount of kills in a normal (yet he is Silver) and I tell him to play ranked. He doesn't play ranked because he knows he's against lower people in normals which is why he is getting so many kills. Someone in Bronze obviously is missing many key points about League and people who play a lot of ranked and are high ranking are usually very competitive and understand most if not all of League. If you don't play ranked you can't say you know more than someone who does and is high ranking. That's like saying you personally studied the human body and know just as much as if not more than a doctor and you just haven't gotten certified or recognition.

You have to go to school for years to be a doctor. You can be challenger at the age of 13 (Mike Yeung). Just because a Mathematician knows the highest math, doesn't mean that non-mathematicians don't know how to multiply/divide, Algebra, etc. That's basically how some players treat others.

My point is obviously the Challenger knows more than someone who is unranked/Bronze and other divisions. The same point remains no matter how someone tries to twist it. I never said that it doesn't mean a lower elo player doesn't know something, I said that they can't say that they know as much as someone who is higher. Because if they did they'd obviously be at the same elo.

Word rank by my understanding means level of knowledge (in context of League). So higher you are, more knowledge of the game you have...

You're saying that you've played 14 games and you're being judged by that. News flash : Everyone who plays ranked is JUDGED BY THEIR RANK It's not just you, you're not anything special. I'm gonna say that you haven't actually read anything that anyone is saying that doesn't agree with what you think. But it's okay because apparently someone who still plays bot games are obviously just as good as someone who is Diamond.

I don't understand why so many people are offended by a simple fact that people who play more competitively are almost always going to be better than people who play casually. How many pro's/high elo people have made videos saying it takes PRACTICE to become good. Someone who plays guitar more is going to be better than someone who plays it once a week, that's a proven FACT. It's the same principle. I never said people can't be jerks, I never said that they have to be judged. I am simply stating a FACT that someone who is HIGH RANK meaning they play it at a MORE COMPETITIVE LEVEL are almost always going to be better than people who play casually and not ranked at all.

I have to disagree here. Some new players are so mechanically skilled they rocket into higher elos. I've been playing for ages and own and know every champion but I just suck at the game in general. I don't think they necessarily know more. I've met people in high elo that don't know most of what champions actually do in terms of damage and combos, but they can play their champion really well and adapt to things situationally. I will always suck mechanically. There's no way for me to improve that. But I do gain knowledge of other champs, some team strategies ( I can tell when a team is uncoordinated or works well together, good and bad team compositions, and I have pretty good map awareness because it's what I can do.) I obviously respect any well thought out explanation a high elo player can give me, but if he just says "get gud" that's absolute shit advice from a high elo player.

Most people aren't in high elo because of just mechanics alone. I'm talking about most players, not new players. Even people who are good mechanically still know something that other people don't. Two people can read the same book but one is almost always going to understand it more and remember it more than the other.

It's fine when Higher ranked players are constructive and giving friendly advice, but downright annoying when when they talk about bronze players like they are subhumans who are unworthy of theorizing and coming up with their own ideas about how to better play the game.

Also if the rank difference between the two is something like Bronze 1 and Silver 5, or Silver 1 and Gold 5 etc... yeah just shut up you are all basically the same rank.

That exactly my point. They can be just a few divisions different and they still treat you as if they are 1-2 tiers above you.

I'm fine with lower elos telling me i'm doing something wrong it's just the way they say it like ''I know more than you and your in gold idk why'' i get that vibe from them.
