I've had this behavior in 8/14 of my ranked games so far. This is completely unacceptable and needs to be stopped.

I should never encounter this in a ranked game, and especially not at the rate I am right now. This is supposed to be the competitive game mode, and this behavior is completely destroying it. Something needs to change.

dyrus just did a series where he played every champion in alphabetical order. all in top lane, all in ranked. he obviously isnt giving his best effort to help the team win when he takes janna toplane. do you think he should be banned?

Sure, it is suboptimal based on the possible opponents you can have, but the guy is still trying to win and is showing effort in doing so. This guy here said that he is playing Singed mid and feeding because he is bored, he doesn't want to win and he doesn't care about the outcome. Can't you see the difference?
I'm not saying to stack up on energy drinks and go ham 110% effort just to win some rank game, but going in without even the intension to win the game should be bannable.

there is no way to judge a players intentions. they are calling him out for having a bad start so he says 'meh im not even trying' in response to their criticism. there is nothing in that punishable nor should there be.

dyrus is making a marathon to entertain his viewers (nothing wrong with that) where he plays every champion in the top lane. i find this informative because it can reveal more things that could be powerful in top lane that we just dont know, AND its okay because he hasnt decided to stop trying to win, he still WANTS to win, he still TRIES to win, and he has won a fair amount of his games, but unfortunately he has been against strong lane dominant laners and had some trouble, is that him trolling and not trying to win? no, thats called being dyrus, he got 4 man dived on several occasions, which as a top main is hilarious because that almost never happens anymore, usually its the 5 man bot lane dive

Let me spell out what Friend here is saying.
Suppose someone is out playing basketball for his team. Their team is down a bunch so he comes over to the sidelines and says, "I don't want to play anymore, this sucks" He starts making stupid plays and ultimately not caring much about winning the game.
He vocalizes his discontent, and like one of you mentioned above. Stopping people from vocalizing their discontent (while it would be a good thing because that demoralizes the team) would not stop the behavior.
Now what Dyrus is doing , is he is talented at basketball but puts 1 arm behind his back tied and tries his "hardest" to win. Everyone is laughing and having a good time, because look he's so popular, and it's funny!! but really for the rest of his team, it's a fucking pain in the ass and since they work so hard to get where they are just to have some dude "try his hardest with Janna top among the top 1% of players and get his ass kicked"
What you people fail to realize is he isn't practicing these builds in Normals, he's losing other people's hard earned ranked for an extra buck on his stream, and you ball lickers eat it up

Is explicitly saying 'I'm not trying to win' not enough for you? There's no way to 100% solve the problem, just like there's no way to 100% solve verbal abuse, but currently little to no effort is being made to solve non-competitive behavior.

I want Riot to hand out bans from ranked (not necessarily normals) for behaving like this on the first offense.
There are enough people around Diamond V who are either boosted from last season (thanks to dynamic queue) or not trying because they're unable to advance from Diamond V that they counter each other out; this isn't a rare occurrence, this is in almost every game. Skill is mostly irrelevant in favor of statistics.
I have a slightly higher chance to win because only 9/10 players are potentially behaving like this, but it will take hundreds of games to even out. Eventually is not good enough, and it's not reasonable to expect us to wade through hundreds of games with this filth just to 'get out of it.'

See the difference? Even if not at 100%, one person is actually trying to win, while the other doesn't care. I'm all for having fun, but then, you can go try out troll builds vs bots, not in my ranked games.

My thought is that with the advent of game replays we can pretty clearly provide explicit context to actions being taken in game, and we should absolutely hold Riot to a higher standard when it comes to a zero tolerance policy for such behavior.

We refuse, and it just stops trying and partially intentionally feeds. It's still playing, but doing stupid shit to give the enemy team kills.
When everyone says they're reporting them, it responds that it's been playing since season 1 and it's 'not going to be banned for a bad game.'
This is fucking sad.

Also, a lot of these types of trolling responses only come out after you call someone out on a bad game and start flaming them. After that they sometimes even start feeding for real. If someone's doing a shit job, maybe try to make honest, polite suggestions on what they should do differently. Not "wtf why you feeding damn scrub mid!!!!! Report singed!!!!" because that always makes them try harder. Right?

Our jungle failed to smite Baron, ADC said 'nice smite,' jungle said 'ok enjoy your loss' and spent the rest of the game farming the jungle. Support says 'okay, I'm going to report you,' jungle knows it's not going to be punished because it's still playing the game.
