I've had this behavior in 8/14 of my ranked games so far. This is completely unacceptable and needs to be stopped.

I should never encounter this in a ranked game, and especially not at the rate I am right now. This is supposed to be the competitive game mode, and this behavior is completely destroying it. Something needs to change.
you cant Force people to try their hardest. there is just no way to do it. the only way to detect them is if they type it out like that, and if you start banning that, the only thing you will accomplish is stop them from typing it out.
dyrus just did a series where he played every champion in alphabetical order. all in top lane, all in ranked. he obviously isnt giving his best effort to help the team win when he takes janna toplane. do you think he should be banned?
Nah. You just too uptight. Just because you don't care about the outcome doesn't mean that you aren't going to try your best.
What you are saying is that Riot should ban this dude because he isn't as enthusiastic about winning as you are. That's silly. He's not inting so just don't give a damn. Play your best and never see him again after that match. Does that sound hard?

My thought is that with the advent of game replays we can pretty clearly provide explicit context to actions being taken in game, and we should absolutely hold Riot to a higher standard when it comes to a zero tolerance policy for such behavior.
I just had a game where an early invade got us one kill and the enemy team two kills, both for their ADC. Our ADC starts spamming that 'the game is over and we should just let them end.'
We refuse, and it just stops trying and partially intentionally feeds. It's still playing, but doing stupid shit to give the enemy team kills.
When everyone says they're reporting them, it responds that it's been playing since season 1 and it's 'not going to be banned for a bad game.'
This is fucking sad.
The issue is, how?
Let's say you punish people who display their lack of effort in chat, that doesn't really solve the problem, since many people are already giving less than 100% without displaying it in chat.
Having someone agree to take the game seriously before queuing up for ranked would be about as secure as an age check, "Are you 18 or older?", on the internet.
If they punished everyone every time they got a little salty in chat from having a bad game, there would be no one left for you to play with. Also, a lot of these types of trolling responses only come out after you call someone out on a bad game and start flaming them. After that they sometimes even start feeding for real. If someone's doing a shit job, maybe try to make honest, polite suggestions on what they should do differently. Not "wtf why you feeding damn scrub mid!!!!! Report singed!!!!" because that always makes them try harder. Right?
Don't worry, the system works. That Poppy will get banned for trash talking Singed and threatening to report him, I'm sure.

Our 9-1-0 mid died to a gank from top, started spamming 'ff' because our top didn't follow, then just told everyone to kill themselves and stopped playing when the surrender vote failed. It's past 20 games have 5 where it clearly did this exact thing.
This is the competitive game mode.
My bottom lane duo queue went 0-2-0 in lane, asked us to open mid, and then started intentionally feeding while still pretending they weren't when we refused. Both Diamond players.

Bottom goes 0-2-0, demands we open mid, we don't, they intentionally feed while pretending to still try. Top lane is Sion with Windspeaker, rushing Redemption, starting with the mana item. This is clearly trolling.

Just lost my Diamond promotions because our mid laner decided it wanted to 'try something new' and play Malz. It went 0-9-1. He lost at least five kills because he couldn't combo correctly.

This is not okay.
Someone got auto-filled support and decided it was going to troll if it didn't get jungle. It didn't get jungle. It trolled. -20 LP.
Just had someone get auto-filled into top lane, pick Shaco, and go 0-7-0. It told nobody that it was auto-filled. We had two top mains.
Why is this considered okay?

The problem is kids like you that take this way too seriously. Stop being a meta slave. Think for yourself. Stop giving a sht about losing. It's that simple.
Ranked should be a privilege not a right.. kind of like driving.. let them play normals and aram if they don't care about the outcome
RANKED is not where you come to mess around or try ur hardest , there are other modes for that , and you are free to use them , when u play RANKED , you should be ready , not effing trying .
Wow, just lost 20 LP in a game where my team was ahead four towers and 11 kills. Our jungle failed to smite Baron, ADC said 'nice smite,' jungle said 'ok enjoy your loss' and spent the rest of the game farming the jungle. Support says 'okay, I'm going to report you,' jungle knows it's not going to be punished because it's still playing the game.
This is dumb.
