Feedback on the Honor System

I actually really love the new honor system but I do feel like there is a lot of ways that we can take the system from good to great.

  1. Give us the ability to honor more than one player.
I understand that the idea behind the whole "honor one person" thing was to make it so that you actually felt honored when someone honored you. If you have the ability to honor everyone then that diminishes the feeling of accomplishment you get when someone honors you. I do think that there's a way to allow honoring multiple people while not diminishing the value of honor. Personally, the way I'd do it is by making honor a form of currency. This gives you the ability to honor more than one person a game but also means that if you just hand out your honor to everyone then eventually you won't have any left. One way it could work would be to give people ~10 honor points that they could use to honor people. These honor points would naturally replenish after a certain period of time or a certain number of games played so players could continue to honor people they felt deserved it.

  2. Give us the ability to honor enemies. Sometimes you run into a player on the enemy team who shows great sportsmanship or who keep playing hard even though they had a rough lane matchup or who had an awesome outplay that amazed you. It would be really great to have the ability to honor those kind of players. I don't think you should be able to honor enemies every game (since that will encourage people to honor the enemies that fed the most or allowed them to win the most) but there should be the ability to honor those rare enemies that impress you on summoner's rift.

  3. Highlight in-game achievements on the honor screen. Sometimes its easy to forget that quiet ally who really helped secure the win for your team. Maybe it was your top laner who knocked down 4 towers and did over 10K damage to objectives. Maybe it was your jungler who denied 4 buffs to the enemy teams and smite stole a baron and 2 dragons. Maybe it was you mid laner who roamed both top and bot lane and had a 100% kill participation for the first 15 minutes. Maybe it was your ADC who dodged 30 skill shots and who didn't die for the last 30 minutes of the game. Or maybe it was your support who CCed enemies for a total of 200 seconds, saved allies 5 times and bought 7 pink wards. Facts like these on the honor screen would be a great way for us to remember all the great things our allies did and foster the understanding that we won as a team, not just because one person got a pentakill in the last fight.

  4. Allow us to see how often we've been honored On our profile we should be able to see how many times we've been honored for each of the three categories (like in the old honor system.) This reinforces the belief that a player's good behavior is rewarded and allows them to see how many honors they have accrued. Additionally, we should be able to see how much we were honored for each game we played in our match history.

  5. Make honor progression more transparent I understand why Riot doesn't want to include an "honor exp bar" to the system but there really needs to be a better way that we can see our progress in the honor system. With only 5 levels players will most likely only level up once every couple of months which can feel kind of random and unrewarding. Personally, I think the easiest way to do this would be to add sublevels to each level. For example, if you get honored a lot over a week or two then perhaps you go from honor level 2.0 to honor level 2.1 and are given a key fragment as a reward (though your honor symbol wouldn't change until you reached honor level 3.0.) This gives players a more frequent sense of accomplishment within the honor system and a more constant reminder to keep being positive rather than just having them randomly level up after so many games. Think of it similar to having multiple divisions within the same rank rather than just lumping everyone as "bronze", "silver", "gold" etc.

Riot has stated that they are first releasing the bare minimum to us, they can listen to feedback and then react / iterate quickly on the things with highest demand.

Points 1,2, 4 have already been announce that it will be on the way in the future.

Point 3 will probably be the hardest to implement right now with the details you are looking for.

Point 5 Riot has said that they didn't want a progress bar, but I think if we make enough noise, they will rethink the progress bar.
