Why is it okay for me to queue up for a game, get the role I wanted, and then basically be told "You're going support. We're a four man and you're the random, oh btw we'll ban your champion if you don't, so you're fucked either way"

The best way to deal with it is not show pick intent until bans are finished, and if people instalock and do dumb shit, ignore them, pick anyway, go to your lane, and refuse to leave or speak to them. They will either int, cry, rage (and get a chat restriction), or they will fold and go to their proper lane.
Either way, any loss/feeding is entirely on their shoulders, and they know it.

If you mute they will still report you for failing to communicate with the team. If you stay in lane, they will report you for not cooperating with the team. In anycase, the automated bot will hit you. So, you're being punnished for not appealing to them.
It may be against the rules, but this current system allows you to get away with it. Therefore, internet justice will never be served.
MagicFlyingLlama1 votesYou cannot get punished if you do nothing wrong. Putting your entire team on ignore is not punishable; in fact i know a few people who do it every game regardless of their team disposition (which i find a bit weird), but they have never gotten any kind of punishment.
The "refusing to communicate with team" report no longer even exists in any real sense, and it only applied to fairly extreme cases, like someone spending the entire game following the jungler around stealing creeps, or never leaving toplane turret.
As long as you play a normal game, do not act like a brat, do not troll, you will never get punished. Playing off-meta, ignoring chat and weird builds or strategies will never get you punished (riot has confirmed all of these at various times in player behavior blogs).
For the same reason, people ignoring their given lane and role is not punishable, but if you refuse to give in to them, they will either go where they belong, or do something that will be punishable, either feeding, afk or simply flame their way to a 24-game restriction.

that is completely false, I have been stuck with a group of 4 and because I didn't want to give up my role the entire time they were rude to me and convinced the enemy team to report me. I got a warning from being reported by so many people and I didn't even do anything wrong.
As far as reporting goes majority rules. The riot employees don't look at your game, they go by popular vote and everyone knows it.
MagicFlyingLlama1 votesA warning is not a punishment, and they do not go by popular vote (or any vote), restrictions are purely handed out by an automated system that ignores context utterly. You are judged by your personal behavior and nothing else. Number of reports has zero impact.
"I did nothing wrong" has come from the mouth of people who then posted a chatlog of them being incredibly toxic scum, of the sort which should not be allowed to speak in public or interact with normal people due to being a danger to others.
Naiant1 votesExcept riot employees don't go through the chat or anything. It's all based ok how many reports you receive in a set period of time. The tribunal has unfortunately been replaced by this. A premade 4 all report you and it'll definitely increases your chances of getting a ban
MagicFlyingLlama1 votesIt does not. Riot has discussed this in almost every behavioral blog, because it is a myth that refuses to die. People would rather blame a broken system than admin they did wrong and need to adjust their behavior.
What does matter is number of reports over multiple games. Being reported and found guilty of something once usually does nothing, unless it is extreme hate speech/flaming. Doing it four games in a row results in unavoidable punishment.

As a very experienced programmer, i can see exactly how to make a heuristic system that would detect feeding and trolling without false positives, and detecting widely offensive chat is very easy. The system only uses reports as a trigger to start investigation, to keep the workload down (this sort of analysis is not fast to process, and people should not be punished if nobody is offended). If your "normal behavior" gets you punishment all of a sudden, it just means that it was wrong and someone finally decided to report it.
Pelotess3 votesI got matched up with a four man group and i was the only solo, because we lost that game they blamed me for the defeat and only me, even though my score was decent and i barely finished the 2nd tier chat restriction and wasn't typing in chat unless it was needed. In the end of the day i was report by i'm guessing mostly everyone for false reasons and tried to message riot and they simply replied with something like "We will never unban you and see you in the next adventure" or something . It really is an unfair system to skip a tier of punishment and be reported for no valid reason. But riot leaves it all to robots to do their work so they never have any confirmation or hand in any of their games bans. Such an unfair system is upholded by the game creators, i'm so tired of this game.

Escheton1 votesSucks. But...best thing to do is just play support. Preferably something passive and reactive. They are friends on voicechat. You will always be behind on their plays. You will always lack situational awareness. Playing support is actually better for everyone in that situation, suckily forced as it may be.
