Replace chat restrictions with some other punishment please

If you want to give me a 1-2 day ban (before it escalates into 14 day bans then a permaban), fine, i have no problem with that.

If you want to give me a chat restriction for 10-25 games that will legitimately hurt my chances at winning the game, no, that's not okay.

Pings do not cover enough, and neither does one message every 4 minutes. I am going to lose a game if i can only communicate once every 4 minutes with my team. Please replace chat restrictions with some other kind of punishment, or make it less harsh. Thank you.

Sincerely, an incredibly annoyed chat-restricted player.

How does it hurt your chances of winning? You clearly weren't saying anything helpful or tactically-oriented, seeing as how you got the chat restriction in the first place.

Again: how so? You have "Enemy Missing", which can be used to indicate absent enemies or point out potential enemy movement routes, or even potential enemy locations. "Danger!" can be used for a number of reasons (enemy inbound here, enemy on this objective, incoming siege, bad engage/break away, etc.)

"On The Way", "Assist Me", and "Warded" are all mostly self-explanatory; you can call for help on specific objectives or for a given fight, or if you've gotten caught-out, you can tell your allies where you're going or if you're on you way to rally to them, and of course, you can tell your teammates that certain bushes/avenues of entry are warded, so the enemy will see them coming.

And, of course, there's the "Be Careful" ping, which, while more annoying than "Danger" (thanks to its higher-pitched noise), can be used as a strict warning where "Danger!" would be a softer one.

Pings are versatile, and I think you're horrendously underestimating them. (that, or doing as most would by using "Enemy Missing" to BM your teammates for small mistakes.) Jokes aside, you really put too much stock in text chat.

Which, again; if you got a Chat Restriction, there are very high odds that you weren't using text chat for the betterment of your team's chances of success. Having that limitation on your chat is supposed to teach you to use it in a helpful/positive way, or to not use it at all.

And, honestly, if they did make it a 1-2 day ban, there would be way, way more complaint threads. If there are a lot of people complaining right now over 14-day bans and such, imagine how many people would get up in arms about being locked out of the game for two whole days because they dissed their Support.

Okay first of all, stop saying "clearly you arent using the chat right if you're restricted", because we are not talking about whether or not i deserved a punishment.

No, pings do not cover enough. I cant say "taliyah no ult" with pings. I cant say "go in when i stun them" with pings, i cant say "reset then force baron fight" with pings.

No, i do not "use the mia ping to BM". I use the mia ping like a civilized human being for when my laner is missing.

25 games of literal torture > one day break from LoL. (In "which is worse" terms.)

I said "clearly" once, and then said "odds are high" once - so, I said it twice. Those were to reinforce the point of the chat restriction, and let it stand in contrast to you saying you need text chat to communicate well.

Sure, I'll give that it's hard to tell your teammates when an ultimate ability is down when there are no pings for them, though some ults (like Taliyah's, so, not a great example) are often very obvious.

For "go in when I stun them" - that shouldn't really need to be said. It's called "follow-up", most folks can do it without a word between them.

As for reset and force Baron, I'd say use "Danger!" and "Assist me" - first on the Baron pit, then in the river. But, at the same time, it's a complex command, so, I can give that pings don't suffice there.

All said, you should generally still be able to communicate well enough with pings alone.

As for the "Enemy Missing" ping BM thing - that was a joke. I even said it was a joke.

25 Game Chat Restriction = Punishment.

One-day Break from League of Legends = a break.

You can take breaks, but punishments have to be delivered. If you don't like getting punished - perhaps you aught to take a break voluntarily, instead of having Riot tell you when?

5 lines per 5 mins right? Just make the best use of them Enemy mid: Ult is down, ping their summoner spells counts as 1 line. Most ults are not under a min, so you should be fine for the most part on that. Ping to go in(spam you are moving here) pretty much the sign to go in I think(since literally all my jungles do this)

I don't know, I use chat less and less, since 90% of what I'd say is pointless so I just don't type and rely on my pings for everything granted I do use voice chat to talk to my partners and link it to my team incase they'd like to join

Talk vs type riot can't stop that :D
