@Riot New Player Experience

3 of my friends recently decided to start playing League of Legends. However, I've noticed as they start that the early levels of League are really not very new player friendly. Aside from all the things they have to learn, there is an inordinate amount of toxic smurf accounts. People with way too much skill for that area who abuse new players for not having the same level of skill as them. As far as I can tell these are the accounts of banned players who are now extra frustrated and taking it out on new players.

Which comes to my question. I remember a while back when you talked about how you were trying to reduce the level of smurfing by providing for the needs of people with "legitimate" reasons for creating a smurf you listed out the reasons that people smurf and being banned wasn't one of the things you mentioned. Is this issue as well as general new player support something that is on your radar? Are there people at Riot whose job is to work on the new player experience? Just a general comment about the state of your thinking on this matter would be great! Thanks

Riot has said they are fine with smurfs.

I would suggest that you make friends with players who have played the game a while. Add me in game and I can try and help you guys out. If you want other people to play with, I would suggest looking up the following podcasts, they have a good player base who will be more than willing to help you guys out.

Just OK gamers Leaguecast Trinity Force podcast League of Legends Anonymous podcast

Just google their podcasts (TForce is the biggest one) and look on their sub reddits or their websites, they should be able to help you from there.
