Reform Card and Chat Restrictions are Dumb

NOTE: If you're going to reply about how I told someone I hope you die maybe you should actually read the OP. The quote "Hope you choke" was in reference to someone joking about sucking on a phallic object.

I don't chat too much in games generally. When I do chat it's mostly just to screw around and everyone has fun and games with bad words. I've never been chat restricted until a Duo stated in all chat to report me for saying "%%%got" which was understood by the receiving party to be playful talk. And last I checked asking to report players for any reason (let alone because it would be "fun") is against the summoner's code but I don't expect Riot to read their own rules considering they can't even get chat restrictions or reform cards right. Below is what I got in my "reform card" (seriously it's a video game Riot, not a church).

> Game 1 Cleril: Good Cleril: Hope you choke Cleril: I'm not fighting Cleril: I'm performing sexual acts Cleril: We're not even fighting though Cleril: Thin skinned pests Cleril: rengo, free jungle Cleril: You wanted support love Cleril: Nope Cleril: Now that's what I call %%%got Cleril: Rude Cleril: Also asking to report is against the code Cleril: But %%%gots wouldn't know that Cleril: You picked support love Cleril: true

> Game 2 > Cleril: nipples > Cleril: No > Cleril: I said "Flash is dumb" > Cleril: Cancer kills > Cleril: just peel for me > Cleril: I can't read your tiny text > Cleril: flush when done > Cleril: need 300 gold > Cleril: need the ad > Cleril: I like to rape pandas > Cleril: no > Cleril: darius too low > Cleril: 10 sec > Cleril: Flavor of the month %%%gots

List of things wrong with this "reform card."

  1. It only shows what I said. This completely removes any semblance of context. I even state "We're not even fighting though" as the duo even said in-game "I like him actually" in reference to me. You'd never know that because Riot couldn't program a wet paper towel. The whole "choking" bit was in reference to something one of the duo said and it was well-recieved a joke.

But again, no context, no way to understan this. A+

  1. Obviously the use of "%%%got" here is not remotely hateful or in reference to precious homosexuals. I doubt your automated system can interpret this (see: couldn't program a wet paper towel). Hell, these aren't even the games where I've said variations of the "N" word. And even in those games such words were clearly spoken an received in humorous fashion.

  2. Create a game mode that permabans FOTM champions and I wouldn't call out your balance issues. Or was it that "f" word again that your automated system is upset about? Again, clearly just a word. No hate explicitly given towards anything but FOTM champions. Of course this is even harder to see because you only put my chat there and nothing else.

I used to handle Tribunal cases too and you could clearly program a full chat log shown there. Gee, wonder when you're going to be done working on that new and improved Tribunal Riot. Or do you get off on ridiculous retrictions based on automated systems?

As for "reform" all that I've learned is that pre-mades can report me for "fun" simply for using a word that was not spoken or received in hateful fashion. And said pre-mades will suffer no consequences despite violating the Summoner's (not that they exist anymore) Code themselves.

Finally, I've made racist jokes before (well-recieved by everyone) outright using the "N" word(s) but your system decided these games were worthy of restrictions. Kind of ruins any legitimacy if you ask me.

If the person you are talking to is ok with that kind of language, great, that's fine. But they are not the only other person in the game, and there is almost always someone there that is not ok with it, and you need to take that into consideration. If you are wanting to use offensive chat with a premade ally who is ok with it, but others might not be, I suggest sticking to a third-party chat option such as Discord, Curse Voice, or Skype.

In the end, there is no justification for that kind of language. It is not acceptable to use hate speech (among other extreme behavior) regardless of context in this community. If you are unsure how you are expected to act to stay within the Terms of Use I suggest reading the following articles;

The Summoner's Code Behavior Worthy of a Champion

Honestly I am surprised you only got a chat restriction........ I would think that you deserve a 14 day ban if not a perma ban.......

Hoping someone dies and using homophobic slurs(no I don't care about context). Using rape as a joke......

I hope a rioter sees this post..............

It seems you don't know how to act among strangers, only close friends. Strangers all have different values, while you tend to know the limits of your buddies, like if you can use words like "f%%%%%" as a joke. Unfortunately, unless you are in a premade 5, the other people you are teamed with might not approve of that language.

I find any and all homosexual slurs to be offensive. It is not up to you to decide how other people interpret your use of a slur. You used it. There is a risk in using it. This is that risk.

Yeah, I'm sorry, I agree with you. The chat ban was dumb and undeserved. You deserve a permaban instead.

i feel like reform cards should include the chatlog of other players "even with names edited". not because they make the behavior ok. but because those chatlogs provide context. and can be used as evidence in cases of flamebaiting/provoking against people who may be avoiding the bot. similar to the old tribunal
