Waiting For The Enemy To Make A Mistake =/= Counterplay

Velkoz vs Leblanc

She uses W to hit me.

My E is used on where she will land. By the name it lands she already did her combo and is back safe in her no-skill-required escape. I'm anticipating the attack but the animations of my E take too long to counterplay the attack.

I attack the spot she returns. She doesn't return instead continuing to burst me down and stun me which besides E I have no means of doing so (even flash in this instance won't give enough distance). Juking her chain can be done but even if I do that I'm still losing at least 1/2 my health because of her point and clicks.

If I try to battle her burst with my own it won't work because all of my animations are far slower than hers so I'll be dead in the trade by the time my E is ready to proc again.

During this game I was toxic as fuck to this Leblanc because I'm sick of playing against this bullshit where the best case scenario is to AFK farm (which means I'm not allowed to play the game since I don't consider farming minions gameplay). I can't even do that though because Leblanc doesn't care about minions in the way and I have to get close enough to farm which isn't possible with the oppressive design of <insert bullshit here>.

Ergo the title of this thread:

Waiting for the enemy to make a mistake is not counterplay. When the enemy can make a mistake and suffer absolutely zero consequences for it that champion needs to be deleted, reworked, or whatever option makes the game playable and fun.

I recently tried Heroes of the Storm again and the game only has one point and click ability I can see that has zero counterplay. However every other ability that character has does have counterplay. I find myself enjoying a game much more when I'm allowed to play it and not die to bullshit I can't counter no matter what I do. Having to play X champion against Y champion is also shit design so don't give me the "just stun her" crap. I shouldn't need a point and click stun to remotely have a chance against bullshit.

I can't play League anymore. It's too stressful when playing against characters that don't let me play at all. Every game it's something else and sometimes I'm against a whole team of shit design.

Far as I'm concerned if you care so much about toxicity maybe you shouldn't design champions that breed it on both sides. And maybe you should let people play the game even if they don't pick bullshit characters.

ITT: people who rage about getting stomped and can't move on to the next game like they should

The #1 thing you need to learn if you want to go above bronze/silver elo or MMR is that there are lanes that are unwinnable but the game is easily winnable.

Extreme example: Nasus vs. Darius.

You will never win lane as Nasus vs. Darius. However you can easily win the game if Darius fails to stomp you incredibly hard AND makes an impact on the rest of the map. Winning lane alone is not enough for Darius.

Same for LB. Her winning lane is not enough. She has to actually suppress you from farming and then gank other lanes. If she fails, in teamfight phase you are 100x more useful.

LeBlanc does stomp most immobile mages. That's her job. But she can't do much else. Velks can play tank-buster with his true damage, as well as being pretty strong in the poke game. Her other counterplay, somewhat paradoxically, is to shove lane as hard as you can. LeBlanc is a bad farmer, and if you can shove her under her tower, she'll lose the majority of her CS. Her only waveclear option is her W, but maxing her W costs her combo a lot of damage. Honestly, I know you're not looking for a guide. I also hate LB, but think about it this way: what's the counterplay to Vel'Koz? Since you don't count waiting out powerspikes as counterplay, I'm going to assume that dodging skillshots doesn't count, either. With that being so, the counterplay to Vel'Koz IS LEBLANC. Every champion needs some way to be shut down; with Vel'Koz, it's assassins who can jump him and turn him into Void Sashimi.
