How common are boosted accounts?

Lemme break it into two tiers:

-People who are attempting to get their friends to boost them to gold. -And people who purchase an account that's ranked plat / diamond.

I'm not so curious about friends boosting, since I've met a few people who admit to it (and they tend to fail). I am curious about the boosted plat/diamond accounts. Today I decided to look up a player's mastery points, because they'd played a champion very poorly, and their profile was absolutely damning. The thing is I've ignored a few similar performances, and I'm wondering if it is more common than I realized?

It's very common in flexQ. One Diamond/Master player plays on a smurf so he can play with friends in silver/gold/plat. Even I admit playing on my smurf last season to play some flexQ games. Useally I don't take my main champion in these games and it's probally works out very well.

Eventually you will get to a similar mmr with that smurf anyway so it's not like it effect that much. Almost every premade team in flex is doing this. In theory flex Q is the mmr that is more depended on shotcalling than mechanics (even it doesn't happen that often).

i feel like its not a big deal in gold since everyone is awful. but its a very real thing in plat with boosters

You're forgetting the 3rd category, paid elo boosting. I just looked online and what the actual fuck this thing is expensive !

Buying account is less expensive tho so i guess it's more common.

this is one I got in SIlver 5 elo this cannot ever be a diamond playing this account was either bought or this bronzie has been boosted. I know something is going to happend to my account or might get a ban but this I call getting away with murder.
