lately ive noticed especially in ranked. its become a common practice for people to bait people into getting reported. and some people legitimately dont have the self control to not respond if someone is in all chat lying about you. or threatening to feed your lane or steal your farm. but not actually doing it. a solution i have is an opt in chat restriction. that isnt a punishment. and wont take away end of season rewards unless they've already been taken away. it can be activated for a set number of games. cannot be deactivated until its over "to discourage people from misusing it to try and "play off" reports

Enter the game, mute all allies before anything is said.

Problem solved, no one can goad you in to talking.

I don't see your issue.

also. many people are toxic without realizing it. and are trying not to be. but their idea of toxic may not be in line with riot's and may get permabanned before they get it. which is unfair to someone legitimately trying to reform

Although they will never implement it, the sooner an auto-mute was an option before you start the better.

Pings tell you all you need to know. Chat is nice if folks are nice but of no importance for the game itself. I don't need / solicit or value the opinions of someone who wants to comment on my playing style or kill ratio. Other than for flaming I don't see why it's even in the game.

This is not a complex game. You do not need to consult with other players to work out what is happening in a match, where to head for or what you'd like to do next.

Auto-mute. The sweet sound of silence.
