When did it become okay to call people autistic?

I have been called autistic four different times today. Reported three (i forgot to report one of them) and nobody was punished.

"Your report wasnt the last one that triggered the punishment" calling someone autistic should be an instant punishment, regardless of context.

Its not okay to call people autistic, nor is it funny, to make fun of very unfortunate people who have to live with a disorder that the 5-year olds on this game throw around like its absolutely nothing because they cant control their temper or think they're being funny and intimidating. Grow the fuck up.

I'd like to point out that just because you didn't get instant feedback doesn't mean the player wasn't punished. I'm not sure why it's so inconsistent, but as long as you reported it, the system will catch it. Keep doing what you're doing and mute / report them. my frustration is that autistim related slurs arent treated the same as N bombs or homophobia. 1 gets chat restrictions while the other is an instant 14 day ban

I'm not sure why that is. Regardless, I think the ultimate goal isn't to have tons of people banned; rather it's to give them a wake up call, and hopefully get them to reform. Most people who get a warning actually correct their behavior, and don't receive additional punishments past that point.

Of course there's always going to be someone who persists; there's nothing you can do about that. In the end, they'll end up perma-banned if they continue with the behavior. As for the people who decide to do it to the point of getting multiple accounts punished, I'm not sure what anyone can really do about that aside from what you're already doing; muting and reporting.

The point I'm trying to make here is that the duration of the punishment doesn't always matter. Even a small chat restriction can be enough to scare someone to the point of correcting their behavior to follow the rules.

Potato potahto. How people use it matters. If it is being used as an insult then it is an insult, regardless of its other meanings.

Same thing with racial and homophobic slurs. Calling somebody "gay" used to mean they were happy a long long time ago. People started using it as a word for people with preferences other than the opposite sex, and even then it was fine. But after people started using it in the broshooter genre as a synonym for shitty it became an insult.

It's damn unfortunate when people appropriate a group's identifier for use as a demeaning word, but the fact of the matter is that it happens. And when that happens it does become an insult.

I played the game like a normal person, minded my own business and did not feed in any of the games that i was called autistic in. The people died and then took their anger out by verbally abusing me, who had done absolutely nothing to provoke this, with the word autism.

My duo partner who i played 3 games with was also called autistic in two of them, and called someone autistic in the other one (i really didnt care for that). The term is used way too oftenly and loosely because people dont realize what it actually means.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I don't see being called autistic an insult. it's like calling someone left handed. if you're wrong in calling someone that you just look dumb, if you're right then it's just a statement of fact. I do agree that if people are using it as a discriminatory platform, it becomes a fairly severe issue, but there's a difference in my eyes between "he's autistic, just play the game" and "he's autistic, and therefore useless"

tldr, calling people autistic is dumb but being offended by being called autistic is also dumb

I firmly believe that league's community is toxic due to the nature of the game, not due to the censorship.

People were doing things like telling others to kill themselves since the beginning of the game's existence. I know because I was there. Toxicity wasn't created by the censorship, it necessitated the censorship.

Objective truth is roughly equivalent to proven fact.

You presented an opinion as a fact, I argued that it is not necessarily fact, and that the relative worseness of the different issues you brought up is actually subjective (subjective meaning open to interpretation).

If you can't accept that you might have a problem then most likely you have a problem. Healthy people are not afraid to look to themselves and in most cases they aren't being offended when they being accused of mental disorder for some certain reasons. You either are super sensitive person or there is possibility that you have mental illness. Either way you must have mental issues. And no, I am not trying to be sarcastic or insult you. While I am not a doctor to diagnose anyone yet I been working in rehabilitation center and I know what I am talking about.
