Mid lane DPS champs?

Since we are back in the tank meta I've had a hard time going mid with my usual control mages (ori, ziggs, veigar, etc.). They just lack the damage/utility in my experience against beefy compositions to kite and stay alive effectively. So my question is, besides Azir and Cassiopeia (who I am absolutely terrible with), which mid laners deal with tanks the best should I try to pick up? I've played a bit of Kayle with pretty good results but I'd like to have more than 1 champ for the role.

Or, should I consider switching my builds (and continue playing my beloved ori) to focus on killing the tanks instead of more bursty builds to kill the squishies? I always thought of this as more of the ADCs job but it seems whichever team has the most tanks wins. Should I go say Athene's>liandries/rylais>void>deathcap vs teams with big front lines? I'd sacrifice the safety of zhonyas but maybe the additional health might mitigate my vulnerability. This build order would weaken my mid game against squishies who I can usually kill with 1 combo so I just don't know what to do lol.

Lastly, should I consider an alternative summoner spell when playing control mages against multiple tanks? Instead of TP, exhaust or cleanse would having ghost (along with flash) make sense?

Any advice is appreciated. Ive plummeted from gold 1 to gold 4 since the new meta and I've identified the above as my main problem. It's really frustrating and I just want to stop the perma tilt I've been on recently. Thanks!
