Why did Riot remove actives on sup items?
I just started playing ranked again recently and main support and am curious what the rationale was behind removing them? They want more people to play the role but made it less fun/interactive...

Now you don't need to buy sightstone because the support items have it built in. The actives you're asking about are now on separate items you can buy if you want. It's actually better because you can buy the active items regardless of which support item you started with.
Mid laners and junglers were abusing spellthief for their completed paths, top laners were abusing coin, tanks with Face of the mountain were deemed to have too many shields.
Ty riot. Now I can easily one shot squishies.
Because no one likes support and when they get filled they would get a supp item but no sightstone. So now they get sightstone free and can go full ap after. Making the role even more dull if you main it.
I don't mind the actives being gone as much as I miss Bandit.
