These DDoSers
To me it seems that these issues happen late at night in the US. It is 1AM EST and if my memory serves, the last couple happened after midnight as well.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Sounds about right. But then again it happens over long periods of time during the day on the west coast sometimes as well.
East coast, always between midnight and 3:00 for the last 2 weeks. Although I think there was one recently at around 9:00....idk
Edit: Stupidly simple explanation, these guys could be League players and want to get a few games in before clicking a button and thinking they're the antagonist of Live Free Die Hard. lol, prob not, but it's 2:00am and I have class in 6 hours, therefore tired and loopy XD
Just speculation, but it seems like something like this would be ideal for climbing the Ranked ladder. A pretty even chance for disconnections to favor either side with an almost guaranteed "Loss Prevented" should you lose.
eeeeeeh, I can see it a bit, but unless it's challenger or maybe diamond I level one game a day wouldn't be worth it, as ranked would be disabled afterwards. Although yesterday it was 3 times....I can see people identifying the pattern and abusing it in that case, but not worth causing it imho. But then again, I'm not challeneger level, it could mean that much...#shrug
Yeah, if this were the case, it'd be to benefit a small group of players as the general public wouldn't think to abuse it (or would be too frustrated as the Help & Support sub-c suggests).
fix servers pls
I've been doing my hw on this. I'm starting to see how it is done, and quite frankly I could probably make a small scale model work with pretty astounding success on only a single machine.
This is a rather simple form of attack. Assuming one has a handful of machines at home, one could pull off an attack with incredible numbers. Obviously to hit Riot with 400GB/s, the number of machines would have to be significantly larger than a handful, but most smaller sites could probably be taken down with only a few machines. This all assumes you have good internet, not dialup, and that your machines are newer than 2012 with fairly good specs.
That said, it seems that the true potential of this attack has yet to be reached, consdering that this method is theoretically over 500x more efficient per machine using this method vs straight ddos'ing. Simply put, if this was fully optimized and distributed, the internet would become the virtual wild west.
