Why is Rek Sai getting a skin so soon

She is getting another skin before champs that are older then her.

Hiya Malix Farwin!

When planning for Pool Party skins, we thought of many champions, and the potential hooks (cool aspects) a skin could have.

We felt Rek'Sai would be an awesome opportunity, not only because of the cool things we could do with her tunnels and her ultimate (the jet ski is my favorite part about that skin), but also because when Rek'Sai initially launched, one of the top requested skins was some kind of shark'sai.

I already have Eternum, but I NEED this new one.

i am sure you love her but lets be real, there are 121 champions and only a fraction of them have gotten new skins recently, hell Ezreal has gotten 2 new skins in less then a year. Their metrics for determining new skins is kinda jacked. Zed for example has got some limited edition skins but if you look him up right now, shockblade is still the only option for him.

Some skins they make because X Champ "needs" or is up for one. Others they make because they fit thematically - see the Lunar Revel, Pool Party, and so on.

Its based on how many people play them. Why you think Zac has no skins? No one plays him, and why someone like Ez has several. If the champion is played a lot, there will be more skins for them since more customers. Its surprising that wasn't obvious, not to be rude. Rek Sai is a pretty common jungle lately so yeah she will get more skins quicker.

Riot has contradicted that idea though. I believe it was in a surrender@20 post months ago that said that they did not favour champions that were played more often over others.

In addition, the reason that Riot gave within said website for Zac was that he was difficult to model because his model would constantly change.

This actually isn't why Zac doesn't have skins. :]

As we've mentioned, Zac has a unique model/shape, which makes creating an interesting skin a bit more difficult than some other champions. In addition, we like to release skins at the appropriate time of the year - so for something like Pool Party Zac, we held off until we released the rest of the Pool Party skins closer to summer. Releasing him in January wouldn't make much sense. :P

This happens for several skins - if we have an awesome thematic, for example, a Halloween-themed Quinn skin (I just really want Valor as a bat), we'd hold off on releasing that skin until the Harrowing event where it's more appropriate/makes the most sense.

Yeah, try to put a suit on flubber and see how well that goes.

They make skins when they have ideas and time. They had a perfect idea for Rek'sai that fit in with the pool party theme, so they made the skin.

Also, some champions are extremely hard to make skins for. Zyra, Udyr, Zac, and Zed are on that list. This is either because there is a lot of work involved(Udyr/Zyra/Zac) or the theme is fairly limited in adaptability(Zac/Zed) that doesn't go into copyright territory.
