How much would it cost to build the infrastructure to put all league players on a private network?
I'm talking about a network that isn't connected to the internet. Imagine if everyone on league of legends somehow connected to a private network that isn't physically connected with the internet.
Why? Because having your network open to the internet means your server is like a tiny fish in a big pond, no matter how many millions you spend on bandwidth there will always be a bigger fish and even if not then there will always be an enormous school of smaller fishes. The point is you can be overwhelmed by collective bandwidth of computers on the internet in a distributed denial of service attack.
So here is a completely hypothetical idea:
Imagine if everyone had to purchase a satellite receiver at a discount from RIOT and RIOT had private satellites in orbit to bounce the signals directly to their servers without ever going through the internet. Like the network itself isn't connected to the internet at all. You'd have a private protocol and network.
Now I'm not saying that is the best way to go about making a private network that could encompass the entire league user base! I'm just spitballing an idea here. What WOULD be the best / cheapest way to put all league players on a private network, and how much would it cost?
Could RIOT even afford that?
