Calling it now, Riot is going to make Kayle completely morally reprehensible

It is the easy path to making every edgy wannabe philosopher on the internet think you have written an amazing character story. Excessive flaws flanderized to the extreme, "the light is really dark" trope, the unjust Justice stereotype, usually some overly orderly but backwards person who has a bunch of discrimination against everything, but not as a soft characterization flaw but rather as an absolute and utter extreme pushed over the edge to make the character completely morally reprehensible and hateable.

Riot will probably make sure, with their fairly predictable writing recently, that Morgana looks like as much of a freedom fighter and innocent victim as possible. Well Kayle looks like a tyrannical piece of shit with no redeeming values.

I'd love to be proven wrong since I like both characters and would like to see them both have more depth than that. But I highly doubt it.

All I want is for them to stay morally ambiguous! Is that so hard?!

Order VS Chaos event aftershock, it seems. I know, you didn't like that Yasuo and Riven both had negative sides in this event, but just because of that making the conclusion that the same is going to happen to Kayle and Morgana is a bit of a stretch. =/

But since you brought it up: How would you describe their characters to make them have "more depth". I think it is a good idea to make both hateable and agreeable at the same time, so (just like in the event) everyone is able to chose the one he wants to side with.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised. Given how little developers care about anything but money, they'll do whatever it takes to get more of it, even if it means lowering the quality of your writing to appease edgelords and neckbeard / kiddie philosophers.

Can't just have a straight up good guy anymore, 'cause that's too alienating for all the kiddies that wanna be rebellious and look "cool" in front of their kiddie friends. Nope, nowadays everyone is a grey blob, and good guys are actually bad while bad guys are actually good. That demon person there, that murders people and causes general chaos (like a terrorist)? Nah, they're doing it for a reason, and they're actually not so bad. Meanwhile, this LITERAL ANGEL over here? Yeah, she stands for a dictatorship that wants to oppress you and take away your rights.

I don't understand why people equate order and peace with a totalitarian system. Look at Buddhism -- are they oppressed and miserable people? No, not really. More like the opposite. Yet, they have order and peace amongst them (as far as I know), and are generally really nice people.

But hey, edgelords will be edgelords, money grubbers will be greedy assholes. Not much you can really do about either one. It's a shame though, writing in general is just getting bad.
