Hi there,

For those of you unaware, DOTA 2 recently revealed the abilities of the NEW Monkey King HERO. And I have to say, i'm pretty envious they get such cool abilities to properly match his theme. Below is a quick and brief comparison on their abilities. (website does not state what ability goes where, so it just an assumption. I suggest you watch the short visual effects of the link before reading further.)

Passive LOL - Stone Skin: Wukong gains 4 / 6 / 8 bonus armor and magic resistance for each visible nearby enemy champion. VERSUS DOTA 2 - MISCHIEF: An innate power, Monkey King changes his form to deceive his enemies, using his surroundings as inspiration for the disguise.

My vote: Dota 2 - This matches the theme of the monkey king better in my opinion, but to be fair it would only work in DOTA 2 map.

Ability 1 LOL - Crushing Blow: Wukong's next basic attack within 5 seconds gains bonus range, deals bonus physical damage and reduces his target's armor for 3 seconds. VERSUS DOTA 2 - BOUNDLESS STRIKE: Monkey King enlarges his staff and slams it against the ground, stunning enemies in a line and dealing a critical strike based on his attack.

My vote: DOTA 2 - Again this is both better in theme and mechanics to the Monkey King theme, and in a post i mentioned, this was exactly what I wanted to see from an ability like this. Opportunity missed from Riot in my opinion.

Ability 2 LOL - Decoy: Wukong enters invisibility for 1.5 seconds and leaves behind a decoy of himself which, after 1.5 seconds, vanishes and deals magic damage to all nearby enemies. VERSUS DOTA 2 - TREE DANCE: Monkey King leaps along the treetops, looking for his next chance to spring into the fight. Provides the Primal Spring ability. PRIMAL SPRING: From his hidden vantage in the treetops, Monkey King leaps into combat, slowing and damaging any enemies in the area of impact based on how long he channeled.

My vote: Dota 2, now this is kinda like Talons Parkour, but with an second cast to deal damage and slow enemies, very interesting and unique, and beats the Riot version hands down. Again theme and mechanics.

Ability 3 LOL - Nimbus Strike: Wukong dashes on a cloud to the target enemy and sends out images to attack up to two additional enemies near the primary target, dealing physical damage to each enemy struck. VERSUS DOTA 2 - JINGU MASTERY: Monkey King charges his legendary staff with power as he strikes his enemies, gaining bonus damage and lifesteal for a limited number of attacks.

_My vote: DOTA 2, builds him better as a bruiser and provides aggressive sustain, instead of...whatever direction Riot was going with Wukong. _

Ultimate LOL - Cyclone: Wukong spins around for up to 4 seconds, losing the ability to use abilities and basic attacks but dealing physical damage to all nearby enemies every second. Enemies affected by Cyclone for the first time are briefly Airborne icon knocked up. During Cyclone, Wukong gains 5% bonus movement speed every half second, up to a maximum of 40% bonus movement speed after 4 seconds. VERSUS DOTA 2 - WUKONG'S COMMAND: Monkey King blows a tuft of fur onto the battlefield, summoning a formation of monkey soldiers to join him in the fight.

My vote: DOTA 2, As I mentioned, i previously made a post and this is similar to what i imagined his ult should be. a better illusions skill to control the battlefield. To be fair it's kinda like Illaoi's tentacles and just attacks nearby enemies.

VERDICT: 4/4 DOTA 2

Hands down a better theme and mechanic's to fit the Monkey King persona. I feel Valve did the character justice with his unique abilities and overall theme.

To the lore of Sun Wukong Dota2 and Smite if your a fan of that is very close to it.

All 3 versions are fun to play but i prefer the DOTA2 version.

If riot does change him I really want his clones to be controlled by clicking on two of his units or one and send it to the location for 5 or 10 seconds. Maybe his Q to be skillshot and longer.

League's map compared to dota2 is very simple and there aren't alot of points to use trees so using his nimbus cloud to fly around maybe similar to corki's packages.

All I can think of here is that Dota 2 is a very different level of balance and I respect them for that, But I like my wukong as he is, not being the monkey king in lore, but as a monkey fighter born from stone to prove he is the best, he's not a legendary god.

Wukong is assasin who get some survive "only" on teamfights in League of legends -.- Monkey king without clone isn't monkey king, this ulti with monkeys is bad, the good one is of course tree dancing, amazing. jingu mastery meh, boundless stike would be nice with better mechanic, Wukong from lol is very old(3 years?) so it's obvious it's better than wukong q, but most of those skill wouldn't work in lol, DOTA can have more op skills used only like 20 times per game.

Well you gotta remember that our monkey king is a much older champ, so the stuff that our champs could do now Riot just didn't have the tech to do back then.

Personally I've always liked SMITEs take on the God https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veCgJ8dvcQU :D

I like Leagues and Smites because they actually have a combo towards them

a sign of actually intelligent design

Dota's looks like "hey let's slap together 4 really OP but thematically fitting skills together". Literally nothing combos together and you could literally rip the abilities out and put them on someone else and get just as much efficacy.

It's like how Caitlyn is a terrible champion design because nothing about her combos together. There's no depth and you could rip out any ability and replace it with another and it would be the same kit.
