I am currently looking for the last support to add to my list and have decided to make it one of these two, yet haven't really decided which, since they both have things to them that I like and dislike at them and can't really decide which one I prefer, I know they both have similarities with a bad early game, and playmaking ability but can't really choose, which one do you think is better?
If you want to put a whole lot of time into learning rakan, he's a fantastic support. But if not and you just want this as another support you'll rotate through, play sona she's easier to play. Rakan has a very high skill cap and requires game knowledge etc...

I'd say that in general Rakan's better, but his strength only really shines through in organized play and in soloqueue he can end up falling short, especially compared to a champion like Sona who excels in solo because of how simple she is and how little your teammates have to do to make her effective. If you plan on playing with comms, Rakan has more potential, but I'd say that Sona is a better all-purpose support, especially in the current heal/shield supp meta.
