17 recolors = DJ Sona

This is very strange to me; DJ Sona is worth the same as roughly 17 chromas, or 5 chroma packs plus some change. Let's take a look at the work that went into DJ Sona:

  • 3 entirely new models
  • 3 summoner icons
  • 3 profile banners
  • 3 commissioned songs by relatively well-known artists
  • 3 entire suites of new animations
  • 3 entire suites of new sound effects
  • An entire suite of new voice work
  • Hefty promotion and web design here
  • Newly designed UI functionality to allow toggling
  • New chat commands for toggling
  • Downloadable audio files for her tracks
  • Video recordings of her different forms and abilities
  • Desktop wallpapers

Here is the same value in chromas:

  • 3 recolors of base Lucian
  • 3 recolors of Dragon Fist Lee Sin
  • 3 recolors of base Garen
  • 3 recolors of Pool Party Leona
  • 3 recolors of base Blitzcrank
  • 4 win IP boost + 10 RP

I'll try not to introduce a ton of bias, but I have trouble with the idea that 5 chroma packs is even remotely close to the amount of effort and care that went into DJ Sona. How do you guys feel about chromas, when considering their pricing in relation to top tier content? Poll is below.

I feel like chromas are fairly priced, you just have to stop bitching about the price of something when everyone in the world knows you're going to buy it no matter what the cost is...

consider that 520 skins were originally ordinary recolors and cost 520 rp furthermore, some of them are still recolors and cost 520-975 rp chromas are ok, but they shouldn't be in bundles by 3

The only reason we're getting these is that people really wanted them. Riot did research, people WANT to spend money on these.

Incorrect there, as the Sona voice over is actually the same as her base but it's remixed, reversed, altered and made lower as to not interfere with the music.
