Having a couple of issues with Ahri

First before I say anything Ive been playing league since mid season 3 and I just picked up Ahri yesterday or the day before to try her out. I can finally say i found my favorite champion and main. I have never had so much fun even when I'm losing.

Anyways the reason im posting is I have a basic idea how to build and play her while im ahead. The issue im having is how to play and build her when im pretty far behind.

I just had a game against a really good akali and I did really well laning phase I didnt die I poked her out of lane and got OK farm. At level 6 i pushed lane and roamed bot and got a double kill and left akali mid. She went top got a double and started snow balling hard. After that she just started raping me hard I bought pink wards and did ok at first but then i got really far behind. Not knowing what to do I bought zhonyas as soon as i could but i couldn't really farm because we kept having team fights and akali killed me before i could even react.

Anyways my question is when im super far behind on ahri should i just keep building damage grab picks and try to avoid anyone fed? Or should i build defensive and participate in team fights getting good charms and trying not to die? any help would be really appreciated

Abysal is one of the best items in these situations, under rated imo.

Damage mr plus a mr debuff on enemies which are close

Another is rylias good for kiting, lots of ap and hp

Hi

Not sure, wether you already know about it, but just in case you don't: http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/tell-me-a-secret-super-in-depth-diamond-ahri-guide-5-24-409690 There ist an EXTREMELY detailed and well written Guide for Ahri. It is really useful, so you should definitely take a look. The author is also answering every question, that you ask in the comments, so you could try asking there too. You will quite likely get a better answer then here ;-)

So, for your questions: I'd say, you should try to build more defensive; Abyssal's obviously against AP-Opponents. Rylai's is also a really great item, since you can basically permaslow the whole enemy team + it gves you quite a nice amount of health, while also not neglecting the damage part with 100 AP. Other than that: Teamfighting with Ahri is something that I think just needs some experience. Especially the right positioning. If you got killed by the enemy Akali, I'd say, that you were out of position or fighting her without your ult. Espescially the second one can be deadly, since Ahri is extremely reliant on her Ultimate. The right approach when behind is also dependend on the situation. When both teams are grouping and fighting 5 vs 5 you should participate in my opinion. Thats still better than fighting 4 vs 5. Just stay back, watch your positioning, use the range you have on your Q and the Charm as peel. And never be afraid to you ure Ultimate defensively.^^

I hope, that helps a bit. And seriously, check out that guide; when I started playing Ahri, that Guide helped me so much^^
