Sure, technically it is. But clearly their business model assumed many of us would pay.

And lets be honest...are you really going to be a serious player trying to climb rank with 2 rune pages?

Are most peoples time so worthless that, when making a 2nd account, they aren't going to buy an XP boost to hurry the process along?

At some point you are going to spend money...maybe not much, but you will.

So let's stop with the argument that the game is free to play. It is.....BUT it really isn't.

Apparently you all miss the point. The reason people say "but its free to play" is really a way of saying, "you are in no position to complain" as if you are not a customer that has the right to complain about a service they pay for.

Yeah, many do pay, and that is their choice.

Rune pages can be bought with IP.

Buying XP boosts is a choice, not an obligation.

At some point you are going to spend money...maybe not much, but you will.

No one has to spend money on League to play it if they choose not to. Hence, free to play.

How can something be something that it also is not?

This post is laughable, the game is absolutely free to play. There is absolutely nothing in this game that forces the player to pay for; leveling from 1 to 30, getting all champions, getting all champions to mastery level 5, getting 20 rune pages, getting every single rune, playing ranked, playing 5v5 normal blind/draft, playing 3v3, playing aram, playing dominion (RIP), playing ANY special game modes, the ability to join and host custom games, the ability to use summoner spells, the ability to use masteries, ANY update large or small, the ability to change your name. I hope I got my point across, you can even get RP only items for free now, with the new hextech system. You can get FREE Ultimate skins, which normally cost 25-30 dollars. The OP is a pitifully ignorant child.

just so you know i havent dropped a cent on lol in 5 years i started in season 1 and still could care less about paying for anything ROFL i own all but a few runes and have all but 3 champs (4 when sol comes out) but i have over 12k ip so ill just get him too boosts are just noob traps play enough and u can get anything

However saying that doesn't mean, I agree with everything Riot does.

Quite the opposite actually. For some time now they've been doing stuff so idiotic, I can barely see a reason to play this game.

It doesn't matter. I have spent almost $300USD on this game, and I still suck. So yes, it is free to play.

The reason Lol isn't a pay to win is because you cannot get any kind of Advantage over other players. Just because someone has another rune page doesn't give them any advantage, you can technically work with two rune pages and change them up between games or save up for the next rune page sale and get 2 for the price of one.

Riot is a CORPORATION, which means that it is meant to turn a profit. So yes, the game is free to play. It's also supposed to generate money, and people are willingly giving to them, with no subscription, for added extras that don't benefit you in game. In other words; It's Play to Win.

So let's stop with the argument that the game is free to play. It is...and it really is.

I got 4 rune pages from using IP.. and I get all my champs (Or did until hextech) from IP. The game IS free. I played it FOR FREE for the equivalent of 127 days straight of league of legends (Over 3000 hours). I only just spent money on it cause I thought hextech was fun. I easily could have gone forever without spending a single dollar.

Know how? Play Free-to-enter online tournaments and WIN RP. It's how I got my first 3 skins, and how I will get many more. In fact, the only reason I spent money (today actually) on RP for hextech, is that I'm currently using internet that wont handle league + Teamspeak at the same time. Once I get back home (Sunday) I'll be back to winning RP and not spending money on a free game.

champions, runepages and runes and now chests and stuff are free, because they are available at no cost through game time played and ip.

This game is F2P.

If you are impatient that's not on Riot. the services you pay for are actually for cosmetic stuff. and sure you can complain, i do all the time.
