Riot and LoL's lore

So, as we all know, last September there was a massive retcon that essentially invalidated all of the lore up to that point. A lot of people (myself included) were unhappy about it, and did not buy Rito's "tech issues". Riot I'm sorry but that is bull. I understand that there MAY be tech issues in terms of creating the complex videos and whatnot, but updating the in game lore is really not that hard. However, you can't really blame riot for that. Mobas are essentially the only category of game in which nobody really pas attention to the lore. I am a lore addict - I play gw2 and Dark souls 2, and I BINGED watched woodenpotatoes and Vaatividya, however the lol lore is really not that big of a selling point. Nobody who plays lol plays for the lore - to me, at least, it feels more like a sport than a game. Because of this, the main selling point of the game is to COMPETE, rather than to explore, which is why the lore is given so little attention. tldr; Riot doesn't pay much attention to the lore because it doesn't keep people playing or get new players - the competitive drive does.

I don't think it's accurate to say nobody pays attention to the lore of MOBAs. For some time in DOTA 2 I was quite interested in the lore and spent a lot of time looking into it, seeing where everything stood in the world and such
