So a friend of mine introduced me to this youtube channel called "Extra Credits". It's an awesome channel made by game developers for game developers (and curious people like me). Not only do I suggest subbing, but I also found a video that actually referenced both LoL and the Rioter Tom Cadwell in the context of counter-play.

Yep, Extra Credits is great. Their episode on "Perfect Imbalance" is also particularly applicable to LoL (and specifically references it if I recall).
I've actually started watching every episode from the beginning. It really does help you appreciate games as a medium that much more because you get a glimpse into the psychological struggles game developers go through.
