It doesn't cost $30. $30 of rp is 4080 not including the bonus rp you would get from buying it in ant tier other than buying it by $5 transactions.

I'm wondering this too. There's nothing micro about 25-30 bucks. I could get a decent game on steam for that much. In fact I could get the portal bundle (1 and 2) for that much. In fact, of the top rated games on steam, only Kerbal Space Program and Talos Principle currently cost more. For added perspective I could buy counter-strike, one finger death punch, plants vs zombies GOTY, and Bejewelled 3 for 25 dollars.

Ultimate skins are definitely asking a lot out of the players and I'm wondering if they are wandering into whale territory even if the skins themselves are well done and have a lot of work put into them.

Skins are luxury items. It's the same as charging 2000 dollars for a first class flight when you can buy a regular flight for 200. Sure, it's not 'worth it', but it doesn't have to be. If you're willing to spend the money to get that luxury.

When comparing prices with games on Steam, adjust the game's prices to what they were on release. That would be the more accurate comparison.

The reason is simple:

I wouldn’t be surprised if Riot tries to push the limit by making it the most expensive skin the game has ever sold

That's why they don't want to link to it, it could be seen as Riot saying "this one is really going to hurt the wallet".

Yes it is and that's the only reason I'm not getting it. I want it. It looks awesome. However I can't justify paying that much.

Cons: it costs as much as 3 skins

They're justified though... especially when you count in the musical talent involved, the artwork, the customizability, and the fact that it allows your party members to enjoy(which is a great subtle touch to embrace the theme of 'dj') the music as well...

it's an impressive accomplishment in cosmetic design.

I did a research project for one of my college classes on league, and I recognize the writer. He has done some other articles that are pretty well written and interesting.

I want to see more companies go to this extreme. My favourite part is that it doesn't alter the silhouette or make the character harder to 'read'. That's one of my biggest problems with the HotS skins, for example, is that they often alter a hero to a point where it's hard to recognize. For DJ Sona, the silhouette and style are maintained, it just looks awesome and has amazing features.

This really is the best skin a game of this style has ever created.

I don't play LoL anymore, so I won't be buying it... but well done Riot art team. Well done.
