Assist timer wears off too fast, especially on tank champions

I frequently play support, with the new champ select its always my second choice. I have noticed that i often lose out on assists because of the time it takes to dispose of tanks like Tahm, Leona, Nautilus or Bard, Mundo etc. When i am supporting, which i do like, i cant really afford to not get assists on champions, especially if i did half or more damage on their healthbar. You @Riot chose to create champions like Tahm which are very hard to kill. You need to adjust assist timers to reflect shifts like that, otherwise you just enable teams with tanks to deny supports income they rely upon in order to make a difference late game.

It's a 12 second timer as it is, which has been buffed already.

It's already ridiculously easy for me just to toss a heal or buff or something on an ally and head to a different lane- I've scored many assists this way while doing absolutely nothing.

Get a locket and rack in the gold. The item itself is op in most cases, and you profit so much. This is why there is a alternative version of aegis that also ends up making you gold.
