When you want to play the rank card in an argument, you have to do it right. And here's how.

Now, before I start, I'm going to say that I do not play the rank card for 3 reasons:

  1. It's not a challenge.
  2. I'm a filthy, mucky Bronze.
  3. Rank is an illusion, just like friendship.

Now when you want to play the rank card against somebody, you have to consider three things:

#1. How big is the division? If your opponent in the argument is like 3 divisions lower than you in Diamond, don't play the rank card. If you are Silver or Gold, do not play the rank card. If you are Bronze, if anything play the smurf card to save face if you want to play the rank card. Plat+ is the most effective, finding diminishing returns in Challenger based on my research statistics.

#2. How are you playing the ranked card? Like in a game of Hearts, you play your strong hand wisely. The amateur way to do it is to say something along the lines of "I'm Diamond, you're silver." The intermediate way is to say something like "you learn so-and-so in Diamond but not Bronze." The best way, however, is to let your argument speak for itself, establish your knowledge by logical argumentation, show why your opponent is wrong, then when all is said and done, flash that emblem. Something like this:

MF is only a good support as a niche counter and not a general pick, and her tools counter only a few champions. Additionally, without sighstone her team contribution is very limited and her presence is underwhelming against supports like Thresh, Braum, and Tahm Kench.

-A Diamond 3 support main

BAM! You just set up your whole point and nailed in the coffin for your opponent without looking like a jerk.

#3. Is your argument relevant to rank? This one should be obvious, but obvious is a subjective term. So say you're arguing with someone about whether Phreak's puns are good. If you play the rank card to advocate that Phreak's puns are not good you're gonna look like an idiot. It's the little things, people.

Now, you practice. I'm going to give you an example:

Irelia is absolutely disgusting. She becomes the strongest champion in the game after completing triforce and she destroys carries before their teams can react. She only needs two damage items to shred everyone and then builds tank to become unkillable. We should follow the way of the memes and nerf her.*

Good luck.

OMG you are so clueless you frikin Bronzie.

Irelia can be beaten if you're not stupid. Just hit her with CC and buy an EC to negate her sustain and blow her up you noob. If you spent time gettin gud instead of being bad you may have a chance. GGEZ Trash Can, uninstall and I hope you get gingivitis.

Sincerely a Silver 2 Mid-laner that dabbles in support.

Did I do it right?

The ranked card still annoys me no matter what sadly v.v there is no proper way to play it.

It's basically the go to insult of 12-19 year olds. "i got carried by 3 friends into gold so let me shit talk ranks barely below me" .

People never play the ranked card intelligently, they only ever play it when they are winning a normal game or a ARAM or some rotating game mode, and they certainly only do it when they have their butt buddies with them and their buttholes are connected with a wire so they can all flame simultaneously and spew senseless crap everywhere.

Kinda makes me imagine the warcraft episode of South Park when they are in Cartmans basement all in a circle playing the game, and they have his mom delivering food and bringing the shit bucket.

So am I allowed to say "Yasuo is only an oppressive laner against players who don't understand the nuances of laning." -D5 mid & top main.

The smurf card only works if you have a high winrate though.

Here's a tip: if you plan on doing this, make sure you actually play the champ in question.(I don't mean 2-3 games either.) Makes you look like a fucking idiot if you don't play them.
