How often does Riot ban scripters?
Reported obvious scripter a few days ago and was wondering if it is a case-by-case basis or do they do large waves of bans? I know they've done a few in the past before wondering if it's still the same

Just FYI, they won't tell you anything about what they do to go after scripters/botters/etc. They'd be giving information away that would make it easier for cheaters to hide from them.
Riot has said that they log a lot of information about games and can usually determine when people are cheating once they figure out how they are doing it.
My guess is for general "scripting" that they have tools that look for suspicious patterns of play (like extremely fast and reliable comboing, ridiculous accuracy with certain abilities, huge variance in performance on specific champions) and then follow up on them manually.
When there are more specific exploits they have sometimes done mass bans of players that abused it once they fix the problem.
