This game requires a system to fix games being ruined, not merely punish them.

There have been numerous suggestions posted over the years. Why have Riot not implemented them yet? Nobody gives a flying fuck if someone gets punished. They're never going to speak to them again. What they care about is having their currently being ruined game FIXED so that it's no longer ruined.

Challenge: Make a suggestion that cannot be abused. Make a suggestion that will remove the incentive for players to leave anyway. Make a suggestion that is fair.

There is no incentive to keep players who want to leave. They want to leave to punish their teammates. You can't remove angry players. You can, however, minimize the effect those angry players can have on the game. Many times it's been suggested to allow a queue to replace dc/ragequit players in games in progress, or after a delay, end the game in a draw for both teams, allowing them to not waste their time in a game with a (99% of the time) fixed outcome.

You hear time and time again that it's not fair to cater the game to the top 1% of players. Well it's not fair to cater the game to the 1% of players that would rather finish a lopsided game.

I highly doubt the majority of people who AFK leave because they want to "punish their teammates." They probably got on too quickly to work/school/bedtime, had something unexpected come up, or simple grew personally frustrated with the game.

And no, I wouldn't want to see the game end in a draw. I can't tell you the number of "lopsided" games that I've won or come very close to winning. Hell, I've won a 3v5 at one point. THE only system like this I think that should be feasibly implemented is a sort of "mercy" system wherein upon winning the enemy team can vote to show "mercy" to the enemy team in the event of an afk and make it so that they lose no LP for the match, or perhaps a lesser amount.

I don't remember the last time someone left a game because they didn't budget enough time for a game. It's almost ALWAYS a ragequit. They either fed a couple kills and things snowballed from there into them quitting, or someone else fed some kills and they're an angry rager that thinks "fuck this I have better shit to do".

Just because you've won a game, once or twice, over the years, does not change the fact that the VAST VAST majority of games with a leaver end in the leaver's team losing.

It's a case of 'sacrifice the few to save the many'.

Anecdotal evidence means nothing. Statistics show that most people who leave games are NOT rage quitters. While statistics also show that most games with an afk are lost--they are too entirely different things. You're suggesting to take MY chance away at winning because you're a whiny bitch.

riot has the built a money-making machine and they don't want to touch it any more than neccessary. a big change like replacement players will cost them money to implement and it might somehow slow their all important $$. right now cash is rolling in just fine. what is their incentive?
