Am I a genius or something? Why am I the only one able to tell when a game is practically over?

I don't understand. Is this one of those things where I have a 6th sense that I thought everybody had, but don't? How do people still believe that they're capable of winning a game that I can already tell is over?

This is going to sound like an exaggeration, and you probably wont believe what I say next. I have never, EVER, been wrong when I say a game is over. This isn't just my own games, this is every single LCS game I have ever watched, including the ones with a massive "surprise comeback" from an underdog team. In almost 4 years of playing this game, I have never once said "xyz team is going to win" and had it NOT be true. I wont call every game, because I can't predict every game. Sometimes the teams are relatively close matched and I'll keep my mouth shut.

But when I say "This game is over. X team has won" replying with "No it's not we can still win!" is literally just wasting your energy. Just put on a movie or something while you AFK farm. None of our actions will change the result of the game.

Ever heard of something called a "Self-fulfilling prophecy"? If you think you'll lose and stop trying to win, guess what? Odds are you will lose!

Seriously, you sound like Neji, from Naruto.

I don't believe you and neither does my good friend Baron Nashor, because even when it's impossible for one team to play brilliantly and make a comeback it is always possible for the other team to throw the game.

  1. Playing is playing even when you lose. "We can still win" is a kinder way of saying "fuck off I'm playing."
  2. Everyone has their abilities, everyone is different. Go watch a portal playthrough and notice the difference between you and the youtuber in terms of ease on solving each individual puzzle.

Because there is ALWAYS possibility for a comeback. When a team member sets their mind on the deficit, or says they are going to lose and stops playing hard, that kills the chances of winning. Also there is people who play the game casually, who just want to finish a game normally instead of surrendering. Everyone can tell if they are losing, it's your mindset that determines how it will turn out.

(Btw I really doubt you have NEVER been wrong, unless you've only been around league for a few months or never seen a comeback)

Yeah, I call your bluff on the FNC vs UoL game (not the finals, the one before it).

It's the same as any game, or just anything really.

When you play chess and you can already see the opponent's finished, and maybe he is very well aware of that fact but continues to play, do you get annoyed?

If people refuse to give up, they have the right to, that's why surrender vote is a thing.

Also unless you're up against someone who is not human and never makes mistakes or false judgements, otherwise waiting for enemy to make a wrong move for you to capitalise on isn't that bad of a strategy. The only case where you really need to give up is when the team kill count is like 5 vs 20.

Some people derive fun from playing the game itself rather than soley from winning the game. That can be hard to understand but it's a thing.

It would be more useful if it told you how to stop yourself from getting to the point of no return. i think if you intuitively know what consitutes a loss you'd be able to avoid getting into that situation in the first place. i think training your skill and looking into how you know these things could be helpful.

I can often know when it is over. Normally it happens when the enemy team is just more organised than my own team. So have to try to get the team to work together.. if I am too slow to get team organisation going we lose several teamfight we are unlikely to win without the enemy team throwing.. sometimes.. the enemy throws.

Because a lot of winning a game is mental. When you convince yourself it's over, you help to make it happen without realizing it.

Recently played a game where we had the largest comeback I think I've experienced in the 5 years I've played LoL. We were about 12K gold down at ~30 min into the games and had very few kills. I thought I could have predicted hands down we wouldn't win but I make it a policy to almost never surrender and it's because of matches like this that I don't...

That's a self-fulfilling prophecy if I've ever heard one. You believe the game is over so you stop trying and your team loses because you gave up because you believed it was over.

Project Riven5/1/2015, 5:23:00 PM2 votes

Quitter will lose most of their games.

Your mentality of quitting starts from the beginning and leads you to defeat.

Your opposing ADC gets 1 or 2 kills and you mentally just stop trying. You might not notice that you stopped trying, but you do because that is your attitude towards a competitive video game.

The more you do this, the more it becomes a habit. The result is you will float around the tier where you can only dominate those that have a quitter mind like yours. You get into a battle of who mentally quits first, and you win. Are these the match you search for every time you play LoL?

I also have this skill. Maybe it comes from experience, maybe not.

"Yeah, this is over." - sometimes 5 minutes into a game, sometimes 20, but that thought was never wrong. Regardless what role I played or whenever I was the best or the worst of my team. Hell, I once said to my team "if you won't do this or that we will lose" and to myself "in exactly 15 minutes". And the enemy team took our Nexus 15 minutes later.

As to LCS, I barely watch it, but at times I watched a match for 20 minutes, then closed the browser, because "Team X just lost.". The next day I checked brackets aaaaand I wasn't wrong.

it can be 40 to 10 with all inhibs down and people still wont surrender. its some kind of mental disorder.
